Oh wow! People did really stay home. Different cultures, different attitudes. Over here, public holidays are a time to go out and celebrate whatever the holiday is for, especially holidays for independence. Holidays are an excuse to go wining and dining.
Reading the part where they wouldn't let you into the Grand Mosque, until you told them you were writing about it had me smiling slightly, then seeing the pictures had me smiling from ear to ear. It's so beautiful. I especially like the patterns in Moroccan designs and architecture. They make everything extra beautiful.

Yes, here in Morocco people only go out on religious holidays and during Ramadan (especially in the evenings)!
