History of the 24 Hours!
In ancient times there was a nation called Sumerian. They used different methods of calculation, in which three joints of the four fingers of one hand were counted with the help of the thumb, while the other hand was used for a set of joints of four fingers. One set was equal to twelve, because the four toe joints add up to 12.
When a set was completed, he would raise a finger of the other hand.
Similarly, as many sets were completed, they would lift as many fingers of the other hand, and when all five fingers of the other hand were completed, that set would equal 60.
So using the same method later he created a system of counting called base 60 system.
Hence day and night were divided into 12 hours, and 1 hour was converted into 60 minutes.
We find their history in Babylonian and Egyptian.
Inspired by them, the concepts like dozen which is equal to 12, 12 zodiac signs, one foot which is equal to 12 inches, 12 months of the year, etc. are still in place today.
- Note: There are more different traditions.
