2 Amazing Days in Old Mountain

in Worldmappin3 years ago

Hi there Hive Family,

This weekend was all about sunsets and sunrises. We decided to start our hike at noon time intentionally so that we get to see the sunset without too much waiting, sleep at the nearby Eho Hut and then enjoy the following sunrise.

As usual we left the car in a comfortable place near the road and headed to the desired place of peak the Fist and Eho Hut.

The first kilometers were mostly plain fields that could also be traversed with an offroad vehicle. We also took a look at what lies in the proximity as of peaks. We saw the famous traverse in Old Mountain culminating at the prestigious Botev peak.

Not until long were we amidst wilderness and pure nature. We passed our first small river with a small waterfall. The water, squeaky clean.

We later moved to the upper areas and escaped the deep forest. Headed through the bare part with grassy regions and snowy sections. My friend held a Handstand for the show. We also were just getting started on the impressive views that were about to open to us.

We passed another this time wider riverbank with living waters and just couldn´t help taking some pictures of it and the surrouding fallen wood branch. Looking pretty cool.

We entered a region where at summer times there is a lot of livestock and cattle. There is even a small shack helping shepherds whenever they need a place to sleep or use it as a shelter for whatever reason. We also had a view of the higher regions of Old Mountain where obviously, the snow was not so scarce.

Speaking of snow. We passed through yet another running river this time with a lot of snow melting. This was a region that was a bit covered and not directly falling nder the sunlight rays. A lovely place. I also took a shot of a huge supposedly cow thigh bone.

It is high time we get to the point. And here is the main course. Eho Hut just hugging between the big snowy mountains. The last picture of the this series is actually where peak The Fist is located. Expecting major views on the top.

And here we are. The first image shows the intermediate point, then the top point, then the peak itself which was a little further on a plain terrain. And last but not least, an amazing panorama shot.

This was the way to Eho Hut. The Winter trail at least. We had to summit The Fist in order to get to the hut. In summer times, one could simply short the summit and go to the side, but this is not a good idea at winter times. And especially when the snow is so soft and crumbling. No crampons could stand firm and hard on such surface. It would be a very dangerous undergo. After summiting the peak, we had to descend to the hut. Surprise, surprise. It was even steeper on the other side. Thankfully, we had a metal rope assiting our every step.

We finally reached the Hut and were ready for a quick dinner and a sunset.

We put on some flip flops to keep the premises clean and headed to the diner. Over there we ate some lentils with bread and a cucumber salad. Not much but enough to rejuvanate our forces.

Prime time! Here is a sequence of the Sunset little by little going down. As the sun was dawning, it got reddier and sharper. We enjoyed every moment of it!

We slept very well and recovered quickly for the following Sunrise. Here is a sequence of that too:

The way back was again through The Fist. We had to overcome the summit again. And then the long way back. No problem.

Looks a bit different now. The colors are somewhat brighter and more vivid. Which is normal for a just starting day.

And last but not least, we made it back to the village of Klisura (our starting point) and visited a cosy pavilion where people enjoy the views while preparing some barbeque and having fun. There is also a water spring. A very nice place indeed.
