Hi there Hive Family,
Today I would like to share with you my incredible journey at Tran Run Ultra, summiting 4 peaks and overcoming 1650 meters of denivelation along the way.
The 3 of us packed our bags and headed to the village of Tran, which is close to Sofia and here are the surroundings and prep grounds.
We warmed and stretch for a little bit. We also saw a couple of storks. This guaranteed us luck and good will.
The Start/Finish lane. Also they were offering amazing home-made feta cheese and other diary products with outstanding quality. I tried them at every Brake Post.
Here we go. The start has been given. My track will be 24 km summiting and descending 3 mountains.
We started directly into the muddy grounds. It had rained recently so our shoes gathered up the mud becoming heavier and dirtier in no time.
Little by little the denivation started to feel real. We were still in rows but soon it won't be the case as everybody would separate gaining or losing distance.
We entered the woods briefly and then out of nowhere, the denivations got deadly. I was so full of energy and it was drained almost immediately with this steep climb.
After the steep climb we finally reached our first peak. Big Peak at 1219 meters high.
Panoramic view of the second mountain that we are about to climb and descend.
Good views, but we still have to descend our first mountain. And what better way to do it, than with a smile on our face.
River obstructions. Some people crossed it no budging it will wetten their whole shoes and feet. Me personally, I prefered to take off my shoes and feel the freezing cold water on barefoot. It was very refreshing.
We re-entered the village of Velinovo. And our first Post awaited us for reshreshments. I was so tired that I forgot to take pictures of the food stand and ate some salty things to replenish my energy and was up summiting the second mountain. Here are some views of the current vicinities.
In retrospect, the first mountain that we climbed and descended.
Fortunately, our second and third peaks were not so steep and I could summit them with a smile on my face. What a relief 😃
And so we reached the crossroads. There are 3 disciplines of Tran Ultra Run. 13km. which finished to the right. 24 km and 54 km which continued on the left. I was doing the 24 km. trail so continuted to summit the second mountain.
It is now official. The second mountain highest summit point - Peak Strazha at 1389 meters high.
While descending, we get to see the magnificent third and final mountain that we ae about to climb and descend.
Some outstanding views on our way to descend the mountain. The colors are just so vivid I could hardly believe the photos when I saw them. So beautiful.
We descended to the nearby city where we ate at Post 2, which is the final one before the finish. I again forgot to take a picture as I was very tired already and tried to gather my senses for my last climb.
Some casual shots halfway through summiting our final 4th peak.
4th Peak - Lubash 1399 meters high with company. Beautiful panoramic views.
Oddly enough, the decend of the 3rd mountain was the hardest of all three as it was the steepest and we fell to the ground quite frequently. Good thing i had my moutain sticks to hold on to and prevent injuries.
Finally plain ground. We were close to the finish line and our adventure. It was a circle route so we will finish where we started.
The first buildings signifying that we are close to the village and the final line.
We did it! And my Friend won the special award for most artistic finish. He crossed the final line on hands. I did not capture that moment but it was really spectacular.
And so our adventure finished with medals, wood magnets and other treats as the tradition commands.
Amazing day with amazing friends!
