This weekend we cycled to the village of Emona - a small Bulgarian village located 2 km. from Cape Emine, which divides the Bulgarian Black Sea into northern and southern.
I have already visited this place several times and not by accident only by bicycle. There is no asphalt road built to the village, and to get there one can do it on foot, by bicycle, motorbike or high-performance car.
As always, our starting point was the Elenite holiday village. With @outlinez and our friends we set off with the bicycles and I knew that the beautiful autumn landscapes would await us ahead.
The day before there was an Ultra Marathon at this location and the route was marked and cleared.
We rode the bikes along the stony paths and soon reached a favorite place with a wonderful view of the Black Sea.
We always stop here and take photos.
We continued along the dirt paths and soon came to a beautiful large oak that had covered the ground around it with acorns.
We stopped to get closer to the mighty tree.
Continuing on we passed very close to a herd of cows. There was a large dog with them, who thankfully stood at a distance.
We rode the bikes to the next breathtaking stretch.
A wide meadow in front of which opened an extensive view of the sea.
A new series of warm autumn colors from the trees followed and after a few more minutes we approached the village.
Right where we stopped to look down on the village, the meadow was covered with fresh fall crocuses in purple colors.
The dirt road leads directly to the village church. I've never seen it open.
We headed to the center of the village. The long-abandoned school, despite having broken doors and windows, was painted and even had two graffitis painted on it.
It was great that Villa Emona was open. We always stop for a break there. Only she works this season.
There we were welcomed by the hospitable landlady who prepared us a delicious lunch.
My friends ate beans, potatoes, soups, but I ordered patatnik, prepared according to an old Rhodope recipe. I liked it very much.
Everything was in its place as before - the library, the dozens of photographs of lighthouses, the large flower and vegetable garden, this time full of hot peppers.
The terrace was full of pots of violets.
There was a return trip with beautiful views of the autumn landscape.
