Copper Falls State Park - Whimsical Wisconsin

This place had been on my bucket list almost as long as we'd been in Wisconsin! But we finally did it in September, just before moving to Michigan. And as I'd bought my state parks pass back in July, I didn't even have to pay to get in.

There are plenty of educational signs within the park.

Next time, I want to go all the way around both waterfalls...

Flooding is an occasional reality. (My younger daughter using the Kodak.)

The bridge across the Bad River is quite attractive.

The river as it flows below the bridge and onward towards Lake Superior.

Looking back at the bridge. @emberskydragon is trying to photograph some frogs in the water below.

More about the location - Bad River Gorge, located on a fault which helped form the waterfalls here.

Brownstone Falls is where Tyler Forks joins Bad River.

Devil's Gate - I guess we didn't walk far enough to find the information sign on it... but we were pretty tired at this point. We had done Timm's Hill that morning and a museum in Fifield, Wisconsin (which I'll share at some point.)

A pretty waterfall, for sure.

Shockingly, I found there are mistakes on Google Maps (and Pinmapple) as to locations of the actual waterfalls - refer to the educational boards on this post instead. It's a bit confusing as Copper Falls itself seems to be a fairly small rapids that we mostly missed while on the trail... I'll have to pay better attention next time.

Apparently, this is a sawfly larva - such a pretty caterpillar.

This CUTE American Red Squirrel was hanging out near the parking lot and posed just long enough to catch one picture... the next moment, she was running off somewhere else.

One final portrait of the trail through the woods. Such a beautiful place - another place that would be great to see with autumnal colors.

Photos taken by myself in September 2022 with my Nikon D7200. Videos shot with my Kodak AZ401.
