The last set of pictures I have from our walkabout back in August was of these lovely turtles. I wasn't expecting to find these guys, but when we saw them, I had to document them the best I could.
This is the Spiny Softshell Turtle, which lives in the rivers and streams throughout the eastern United States. Some of the range pictures don't include Wyoming, but I double checked that yes, they are in Wyoming as well.
You can read more about them from the National Wildlife Federation or Wikipedia.
This is the first one we saw, just hanging out in the rocks, then swimming around this floating plant.
A second turtle came onto the scene. It was quickly chased off by the first. Not sure if it was a territorial dispute or a failed courtship attempt, but it was amusing to watch.
It was fun to capture these wild sunflowers in the same picture. These pictures make a nice final walkabout memory of my time in Wyoming.

A lot of posts on here are of sprawling and honestly beautiful scenery, but sometimes I just want to see some cute wild life (if I can call them that). Maybe I've not looked hard enough, but your post is a sight for sore eyes.
Good job.
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed this post. Usually, I try to have a little more to the post, but this one didn't want that - just the cute wildlife. :)
Thanks for visiting.
No problem. I enjoyed the visit
And you can always add more to the next post.
