When I was going to GMIS a few weeks ago, I looked for places I could visit. It was a place that could possibly be one of the destinations when inviting other people from outside Jakarta to travel around Jakarta. I found Pasar Baroe Market and found that they had a unique gate. Then I went there.
Pasar Baroe Market is called Pasar Baroe referring to the place or address where the market is located, which is in the Pasar Baroe area. Pasar Baroe in English means new market so it’s weird if I say that it is Pasar Baroe Market.
So, here is Pasar Baroe Market, Let's get it!
in Central Jakarta
This gate is very iconic. It is written there that the old spelling of Pasar Baroe is Passer Baroe, maybe it is related to the Dutch language which is the Dutch people used to come here to trade. On this big gate it is also written when Pasar Baroe was inaugurated, which was in 1820. That’s more than two centuries. Quite a long time but this gate is still standing strong.

Pasar Baroe Market is a shophouse complex, where many traders sell various types of merchandise. That afternoon, when I went there, it was not so crowded. Maybe because it was still a weekday. However, what you are looking for can certainly be found there.

Such as clothes, bags and wallets, perfume, sports equipment, hobbies and others. If you need a tailor, you can find one there. I was almost interested in buying bags and clothes, but I remembered that I didn't want to pile up such items anymore. So I focused more on seeing the street food there.

Including this parfum display, I almost stop to buy something feminim fragrance but I still have a bottle of parfume in my home, so I skipped it.

At the end of Pasar Bareo, or also called the exit, there are many food vendors. The food is also of many types, from light to heavy. You can choose whatever you want to find. There are also fruit sellers. I am interested in the pukis cake. I bought it and ate it with a cup of hot coffee. Perfect evening!
