I have worked in Indonesia for two years spending eighteen months near Jakarta.
It has been a very interesting time as I have met many people and made many friends. Unfortunately I spent a lot of time working and did not get to travel in the country much and the travel restrictions did not help either.
I think I have most enjoyed the countryside. Seeing the rice fields and people going about their day.
I left Jakarta on May 5th and now I am making a list of places I want to visit when I return for a holiday haha.

Are the locals friendly? They look like they would be. I've found most places people are decent and open.
💗The countryside could be very nice. Unlike most expats working there I would ride with my window down, everyone smiled. I would have my driver stop sometimes so I could buy something from the street vendors. My favorite was a old woman that I bought watermelon's from every other day for the season.
If the roads there were 300mm wider two cars could pass 😁
Yes 99% of the people in SE Asia are very nice. I have been back in Oklahoma 3 months and I'm ready to go back!

But a place can grow on you! The homestead is beginning to feel like home.
I bet she kept the best watermelons back for you.
