Actually, I had no idea where I was going to take some photos, and suddenly I decided to go to La Guayana Park in the city of San Felix, Bolivar state. Until recently, this place was completely abandoned, and now they have recovered this space for the benefit of locals and anyone who wants to visit this park, which is very emblematic for the city as a representation and symbol of various aspects of the state of Bolivar as a very important region for Venezuela.
First of all, I left my apartment on a perhaps slightly cloudy afternoon, but little by little the sun came out, so I took a bus directly to the park, taking perhaps 40 minutes. Of course, in a private car from the city of Puerto Ordaz to the park in the city of San Felix it would take about 15 minutes. As soon as I arrived at the park, I began to take the tour and I was impressed by how this place had changed. The truth is that before, it was in bad condition and the bush was so big that you couldn't go into the park. Although I noticed from the beginning that I had no battery charge in my camera, I continued taking the photos with my cell phone.
This park is located at a high point in the city, covering a few hectares, where you can also see some forests around it, but apart from that you can see all the monuments and facilities that represent the companies of the city. Companies that from the beginning have been an economic and industrial engine for the development of the state and the country. As you can see, this park is divided into several small squares where each one represents these companies and displays some minerals such as bauxite, iron or, among others, minerals that are exploited throughout the Bolívar region.
While in other sectors of the park you can sit on benches, some fountains and the main monument of the park with a set of flags of all the companies of the state. In addition, there are recreational areas for children and even sports facilities for those people who want to do a little exercise or simply walk around the park for recreation or exercise.
Without a doubt, these places are very important to rescue or maintain, because it serves as a space for people, as an open-air meeting point, at least that's how I see it, that it's more important than a shopping center, so to speak. This park was founded in 1961, but as I said before, it had been abandoned for many years and now it's an excellent place to visit. You can even go at night and appreciate all its lighting that gives it that magic as if it were still Christmas, although I didn't want to stay until night because then it would be very difficult to return home, because after 6 pm it's harder to find buses in the city.
I hope to go to this park again but with the intention of taking pictures with my camera, but this time I will be careful to bring my camera fully charged, and perhaps I will visit this place in the morning because the day is cooler and the position of the sun allows me to take better pictures of the main monument, which in the afternoon is backlit.
All photographs are my own.
