Today, after thinking about it for a long time, I was able to visit the Macagua dock located in the city of Puerto Ordaz - Venezuela. A place that my father had told me about for a long time, but due to time constraints and certain occupations I had not been willing to go to. Yesterday, together with my wife, we went thanks to my father's transfer with his car, because in reality, to get to the dock you need a private car, because there are no buses or any type of transportation to that area, because this dock is within the jurisdiction of the Macagua dam and previously no one could enter with the exception of military personnel or workers.
Now, almost a year or more ago, they opened access for everyone because they installed a restaurant on the entire dock with an impressive view of the city of Puerto Ordaz, and at that point we are above the Macagua dam, these are the contained waters of the dam. I had never known this place and seen the city from this point and yesterday I had the opportunity to appreciate it and take some photographs.
On the other hand, bathing is prohibited at this dock. People simply go to this place to spend some time listening to music, eating something or having a drink, as well as the simple fact of being able to appreciate all that environment, which mixes a bit of that nature with the impact of human beings on their buildings. In this place there is a parking lot for cars, as well as the facilities of the open-air restaurant and a park for children. Although on this occasion I did not want to eat anything, I was only focused on contemplating the place where I was.
We spent the afternoon until it began to get dark while I took advantage of taking some photos on a very warm afternoon, and from that point, as you can see in some of the forums posted in this post, you can see the silhouette of the city, specifically appreciating what would be the Alta Vista sector, which is the highest sector of the city. While you could also appreciate the calm waters of the dam, that same water that has its origin in the Caroní River, the main river apart from the Oronoco, the most important in the state of Bolívar and that practically surrounds the entire city and also has a route that almost reaches the border with Brazil, because yes, the state of Bolívar borders Brazil and from this distance we are perhaps about 12 hours by road.
Without a doubt, I loved getting to know this place, just for the simple fact of seeing and knowing it is very gratifying, and it makes me think that there are many places that I still have to visit, even just in the city where I currently live, where I have been able to walk so many streets full of stories. I hope to return to this dock in the future and be able to appreciate that eternal ocasi that lies on the horizon of the waters of the Caroní and on the city, it is a unique moment to appreciate.
