Like every city in Venezuela, there is usually at least one park that functions in part as the city's lungs, as well as a place where residents and visitors from other places can spend a day of recreation outside the city limits. To conclude this series of posts about different places in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, today I'll talk about Ruiz Pineda Park. This park is located at one of the city's entrances, from the Puerto Ordaz - Ciudad Bolívar route, making it easy to access either on foot or by public transport.
This park was inaugurated in 1964, and since then, it has always been a meeting point for all the city's residents, where people mostly go to exercise or simply walk through the park, mingling with nature. It covers more than 4 hectares of land, with paths surrounded by vegetation, playgrounds, sculptures, and even a venue for cultural events, known in our country as the acoustic shell, which is perfect for musical events.
I've always seen the entrance to this park whenever I went to Ciudad Bolívar, and I'm talking about many years, but I had never gone in to see it, until that day, without thinking about it, I decided to check it out. It brought back memories of some aunts who always used to talk about this park. I think that back in those years, this park was at its peak. I say this because, although many people continue to visit this park, there are still many areas that are not properly maintained, such as certain water fountains that are abandoned, among other things. Perhaps it's recovering a little, but more of that maintenance is still needed.
However, it's a place suitable for visiting, whether for exercise, where there's an area with exercise machines, or for walking, or simply sitting for a while, whether to talk or spend some time. While one aspect that caught my attention was that this park is located behind the city's airport. Although I didn't see any flights take off that day, I can imagine it being a perfect place to watch planes take off. I was still able to see some planes parked in their respective hangars.
This park's name is named after a Venezuelan politician who fought against the dictatorship of Marco Pérez Jiménez. This fact I learned today because I had no idea who Ruiz Pineda was. Although he isn't a local figure, as he was born in the state of Táchira, Venezuela, this park still pays tribute to him with his name.

Greetings 🤗 nice square. To me it reminds me of one of the ones in Puerto Ordaz, the one near la Redoma. It's just that now it has a name change.
