Our last days in Denmark were marked by nautical events and machinery.
Although a bit sad because most events were part of the first or second world war, it still was very interesting and somewhat eye opening.
The other part was the harbour area of Copenhagen.
The "Sea War Museum" in the north of Denmark was actually founded by a single person and history hobbyist who started collecting findings from ship wrecks at the northern coast.
At the end he ended up with a entire museum and impressive collection.
Most of the museum is build up around the naval battles from the first world war.
It has also a wide outside area with old cannons.

Another historical location is "Vigsø Batteriet"
Many bunkers from the second world war were build at the coast. Over the years, the sea took back his land leading to sunken bunkers across the coastline.
Some are victims of graffiti of course but since the bunkers are massive as hell (well, they were designed to withstand bombs, right) they will probably last for a very long time.
Or until the sea will swallow then entirely...
The last 2 days we spent in Copenhagen.
We drove with our rental car (mostly) along the eastern coast and took the ferry to shorten the way.
We stayed at the "Admiral Hotel" right at the harbour.
The harbour area is filled with ships and smaller boats of all kind.
Other than that, there is a Fregatte and an old submarine which can be visited from the inside.
Very impressive!
While the Fregatte can be visited on your own, the submarine (much much smaller) is being guided through with a tour guide. A former member of the submarines crew.
He had some great stories to tell :)

Having dinner and breakfast is something that also deserves some attention.
Many restaurants and bars are spread in the harbour area and along the canals.
Not exactly cheap but really tasty!
Currently I am sitting in the business lounge at the Copenhagen airport and waiting for my delayed flight back to Vienna.
At least I have enough time to write this post ;)
