Hello again to Worldmappin community members! Happy Belated International Women’s Day! Whenever someone gets tired of sending me live potted flowers for important celebrations or anniversaries, receiving a ticket to Gardens by the Bay works for me too. I’d like to think that I’m easily contented.

Also, in case you are wondering the reason I am able to take nice, uninterrupted photos without much human presence, that’s because over the years, I’ve gotten skilled at selecting places to visit when they are off peak season. As most people prefer having personal space plus I abhor being a nuisance if I can help it so it’s win-win for everyone.

Gardens by the Bay is truly an architectural and engineering marvel at its best. Although, I’m admittedly a jealous neighbor but still I’m very happy and grateful to be there. Malaysians and Singaporeans have a very complex plus complicated relationship dynamic. The solar powered “Supertrees” and two glass greenhouses that shaped like half buried scallop shells are very unique.

The temperature within the two glass greenhouses was very well regulated that I hardly broke a sweat even after walking for hours. It’s an incredibly gorgeous high end dating spot without having to rob a bank or looking messy like one just got out of the shower. Another plus point is that it is a very pleasurable workout. I can easily hit 10,000 steps there. If exercising is this much fun, I have little to hardly any problem maintaining good health.

The first glass greenhouse that we visited was the Cloud Forest. My jaw literally dropped at the impressive sight of manmade waterfall. We were in awe with the varieties of flowers being cultivated there. Although they are manmade but still it’s surprisingly healing to be there. It’s like they’ve hired the best team of psychologists, on top of architects, engineers, and gardeners combined. Sometimes, money really works wonder if utilize correctly.

The tropical forest within the Cloud Forest glass greenhouse was unbelievably lush. The beautiful orchids, mainly Phalaenopsis varieties caught my attention. I also enjoyed looking at Angel’s trumpet, Begonia, Parrot Impatiens, pitcher plants, and more. The higher we go, it truly felt like walking on cloud nine. I learnt a lot about tropical plants that day and I hope that I can retain all the information in my brain for a long time. If not, then another good excuse to return.

The name of the second glass greenhouse is Flower Dome. I was absolutely thrilled to see baobab trees there. I wanted to fly to Madagascar someday to see baobab trees with my own eyes but there is a temporary cure in Singapore. Baobab trees can live up to 1000 years old and they start producing fruits between 10 to 15 years old.

Another section that I love was the Mediterranean garden. Amongst the treasures I saw there were the olive trees, lemon trees and grape vines. Olive trees are also able to live up to 1000 years old. The pleasant smell exuded by the Mediterranean garden had been soothing to the soul.

The next surprise that I discovered was the Monet’s Impressionism Exhibition. The exhibition was not only interactive but they played Debussy’s music as well. I think including Satie and Ravel in the exhibition will be a good fit too. Listening to music while observing an exhibition is a wonderful sensory experience with much satisfaction. If asked again whether I’ll return, the answer is absolutely without a doubt at all.
Thank you so much for reading!
