We have had many adventurous holidays in Namibia and I am absolutely in love with the little town of Swakopmund.
Swakopmund Jetty
Swakopmund is a coastal town situated in the Namib desert, it is absolutely mind-blowing to see the Namib desert’s dunes on the one side and the icy cold Atlantic Ocean on the other side.

Swakopmund is filled with German colonial architecture, as it was the main harbour for German South West Africa. The German language is still being spoken in the streets and there are many markets and mouth-watering German dishes that they serve in the restaurants.

Attractions in Swakopmund include the crystal gallery, where there are many different stones and quarts on display. Kids can dig through the stones to fill a bag to take home and there is gorgeous jewellery for sale as well.
Swakopmund Kristall Galerie
The aquarium is quite small, but features a tunnel where you can walk beneath the sea life.
Swakopmund National Marine Aquarium
One of Swakopmund’s highlights is taking a desert tour through the dunes. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and know how to find the little desert critters by tracing them in the sand.
The cold Atlantic Ocean is filled with sea life, therefore most of the locals love throwing a few lines in the water and it is one of Namibia’s national sports. What can be better than spending a day at the beach with a fire going, fishing rods in the ocean and kids playing in the sparkling ocean water?
I have visited this African country numerous times, it already feels like home, especially after I was there last year during lockdown for 3 months when the borders closed.
This was a short compilation of a few attraction we visited during our trips and activities we have done in this picturesque town. If you're a nature lover, this is an absolute bucket list location!
On my blog there are more posts about Swakopmund and Walvisbay, please go and see what more Namibia has to offer!
