Good beautiful PINMAPPLE community.
Our destination on this occasion is towards Las Terraza, an ecological community located in the province of Artemisa, about 50 kilometers west of Havana. It is a mountainous area, full of vegetation and crystalline rivers that form waterfalls and natural pools.
Once you leave the highway and enter this beautiful destination, you admire spectacular landscapes, with panoramic views of the mountains and the green valleys that extended as far as I could see.
Our first stop in this beautiful community is the Casa Bote located on the lake at the entrance surrounded by these beautiful natural and quiet landscapes.
This Casa Bote offers a comfortable and relaxing experience, which combines the feeling of being in contact with nature with modern comforts. It has its bar and its lunch offers so you can sit down and enjoy admiring these views.
The sound of the water, the wind and the surrounding nature can be very relaxing and comforting. In addition, the feeling of floating in the water can be very liberating and different from any other experience.
Its small houses next to it are very popular for those who like to enjoy and share with friends and family. Some of them have barbecues or grills, which allows you to prepare your own food and enjoy a unique outdoor experience.
In addition, in the lake it is also possible to do water activities, such as swimming or kayaking.
The Boat House
Our second stop was to get to the Moka Hotel. This hotel is located on a hill surrounded by forests and lush vegetation, which allows visitors to enjoy beautiful views in its trajectory.
To get to this hotel from the center of Las Terrazas, it is necessary to walk along a road that winds along the hill. The road is uphill, but it is not too steep and easy to travel. Along the way, we were able to enjoy spectacular views of nature and the vegetation that surrounds the road.
As we advanced along the road, you can hear the sounds of nature, such as the birds singing and the whispering of the wind among the trees. You can also see wild animals, such as butterflies, lizards and small mammals.
As you get to the hotel, you can appreciate its unique architecture and the natural beauty that surrounds it. Located in the middle of a forest even with trees that cross it and come out from the roof to the outside, it offers panoramic views of the mountains and the surrounding valley.
It has comfortable and well-equipped rooms, in addition, the hotel has an outdoor pool, a restaurant and a bar where you can enjoy cocktails and local drinks.
From the hotel, you can do activities such as hiking, bird watching, visits to the local community and excursions to nearby places of tourist interest.
Hotel Moka
At our third stop we head to another lake where visitors can enjoy water activities and relax in a natural environment. One of the most popular lakes in this community, which offers spectacular views and exciting water activities.
The Lake has a pier and a float in the middle of the lake, where you can jump and immerse yourself in the fresh and clear water. The float is safe and is designed to allow people to make varied and exciting jumps, such as head jumps, flips and simple jumps.
In addition to jumping into the water, you can also enjoy other activities.
The view from the lake is impressive, surrounded by mountains and forests that create a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the landscape while having fun in the water and relaxing in a natural environment.
Lake with Pier
Hiking in this community is one of the most popular activities that can be enjoyed. Las Terrazas has several nature trails that offer the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area and observe the local fauna and flora.
The trails are varied in length and difficulty, which allows you to choose the route that best suits your skills and preferences. Some trails are easier and shorter, while others are longer and more challenging.
During the walk, we were able to enjoy a lot, walking along dense paths of vegetation, the sun’s rays were intermittently on our faces. We also found quite a few streams, which allowed us to cool off and be able to continue to the camping place.
It is important to keep in mind that when hiking in these places, safety precautions must be taken, such as carrying enough water and food, wearing appropriate clothing and footwear, and knowing local risks, such as wild animals or extreme weather conditions. In order to be able to take care of nature and ourselves.
Camping by the river was one of the most exciting activities we could do here. This community has several crystal clear rivers and streams that offer a quiet and natural environment for camping. This allowed us to connect even more with nature and enjoy the natural beauty of Cuba.
Camping in the forest
To finish the trip in this super Community Las Terrazas we head to the tourist section Los Baños de San Juan.
The place is a set of small waterfalls and natural pools that are formed through the river. The crystal clear and fresh water is ideal for swimming and cooling off.
The place also has several areas to sunbathe, relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. There are nearby trails that allow visitors to explore the area and observe the local fauna and flora.
This river is a very popular place among locals and visitors, so it can be quite crowded during weekends and holidays. However, if you visit during the week, you can enjoy a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
Around the river, you can see several species of birds that inhabit the nearby forests and that visit the river in search of food and water. Among the birds that can be observed we find the tocororo.
This aforementioned, is the national bird of Cuba and is an important symbol of Cuban identity and culture.
The river is really beautiful and very cold, without a doubt after long walks the best thing there is is to get to it.
The complex has rental of guano houses for those who like to be completely in nature and do not have tents.
There are also grills where you can make roasts or others, and spend it as a family having everything at hand, firewood or charcoal, the grill and the river next to refresh, at night you can feel a great silence and admire the stars.

In short, the trip to Las Terrazas was an exciting and unique experience that allowed us to connect with nature, experience the local culture and enjoy the sustainability of the community.
There are many activities to enjoy and accommodation options for all tastes, which makes this an ideal destination for those looking for an authentic and respectful experience with nature.

Wow! el emplazamiento de la Casa Bote es increíble, en la foto de portada se ve maravillosa, es una imagen que transmite mucha paz, ahora no sé yo si la sensación de flotar en el agua resulte interesante para los que sufrimos de mareos xD. Pero bello es jaja tendría que ir a comer en el restaurante de allí y ponerme aprueba.
Ya entiendo por qué se llama Las Terrazas, con las fotos se puede apreciar el amplio panorama. Está muy bien provisto de actividades y alojamientos, pero aunque el hotel, por ejemplo, se vea muy atractivo con su diseño colonial en medio del entorno rural, creo que el plan de ustedes acampando cerca del rio y pasándolo tan bien como muestras las fotos, es mucho más tentador jajajaja.
¿Qué era eso que estaban asando? porque si es un pollo, ¡era enorme jajaja!
Las fotografías son preciosas, sentí que viajaba a través de tu relato. A mí me encantan las rutas de senderismo y logre conectar con el lugar, me parece que has hecho un excelente trabajo dandole visibilidad a este hermoso lugar. Un saludo y sigue disfrutando de esas maravillas que tienen por allá.
Me alegra mucho saber que disfrutaste de mi relato y las fotos. La verdad es que la Casa Bote es impresionante, pero entiendo que flotar en el agua no es para todos… Aunque definitivamente vale la pena visitar el restaurante y probar su comida, es deliciosa.
Esta comunidad es espectacular, lleno de actividades y alojamientos interesantes. Sí, la opción de acampar cerca del río fue una experiencia increíble, definitivamente la recomiendo. Puedes ver en mi anterior post acerca de esto. Si te gusta estás aventuras de acampar al aire libre.
En cuanto a la comida que estábamos asando, era un pollo 😅, estaba delicioso, la comida al carbón para mi es súper rica.
