A Visit to the Coastal & Marine Biodiversity Centre in Navi Mumbai

in Worldmappin2 years ago

After a long academic session of my college, I with my family decided to go to the Mulund Airoli creek which is famous for red and white Flamingo's. So I with my family booked a ticket which costed around 650 Rupees and were very excited for seeing the Flamingo's.
The Flamingo's come here to eat the waste remains of the creek from December to the month of May.
The Mulund Airoli Bird sanctuary is famously known as the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary and people from all over the world come here to see Flamingo. I started in the morning at around 8 am and reached the destination by 9 am. We had booked a boat of 11 am and waited for sometime there.
We started Walking towards the sea to board the Boat.

We walked for a Km over the sea walking bridge and boarded the boat. I was very happy and excited to see the Flamingo's in the Sea. Over 30 people are allowed in a boat and if you are coming with your friends book a charter boat which coast around 5000 rupees.

These small boats were of Fisherman who go for fishing early morning. As this was an unexplored Hidden Gem the water was very clean and I was even amazed to see the same. Just look at the Greenery on the other side. Isn't is beautiful ?

After sometime I realized that this is the Mulund Airoli Bridge by which I have travelled so many times . This bridge was built in January 1994 and connects Mumbai and Navi Mumbai together.

Just look at the beauty of Navi Mumbai. This unexplored Hidden Gem is a must visit place when you come to Mumbai. The water was very clear and weather was sunny. We were waiting for the boat to come as we had reached pretty early than the reporting time.

After Few minutes of sailing we saw the garbage ground and the person driving the boat told us that there are two types of Flamingos one is read in color and the other is white. The only reason why Flamingo come here is to eat the of untreated sewage flowing into Thane Creek, nurturing the algae that is their main food.

After almost 20 minutes of sailing in deep water were able to a group of Flamingos and I took some pictures of it.

I was surprised to see so many Flamingo together and then the guide told us that they always fly in Groups.
9.jpeg
Then all the flamingos started to fly together in a group and I clicked 3 to 4 pictures of them flying together.

Ghansoli area in Navi Mumbai has seen rapid growth in the past 5 years. As all the corporates are buying office spaces, people have started to buy houses here and we can see a good number of skyscrapers in the picture above.
