It was Saturday night and I with my friends decided to go to Matheran the next day. The next day we all woke up at 6 am and got ready to go to Matheran. We reached Ghatkopar the nearest railway station from my home and had some delicious breakfast with a cup of tea.
Finally our train arrived and we headed towards Neral railway station which is the nearest railway station to Matheran.
From Neral station we took a cab to Dasturi point and enjoyed the amazing zig zag hilly roads with amazing views.
Just look at this amazing weather with lush green trees all around.
Then, as the clouds came down it started raining and the mountains got covered by the clouds.
Finally we reached the Dasturi point and till here the automobiles are allowed.
Now we took the entry tickets from the entrance of Dasturi Point for Matheran hill station.
It was very cloudy after it rained, but guys look at the natural beauty of Matheran.
From here you can reach Matheran in 3 different ways. One is walking till Matheran. The second one is a horse ride which will drop you at the Matheran market and the third and the best way is buy Toy train. Then Matheran Toy train system was built in 1907 by Sir Adamjee Peerbhoy and it still operates on daily basis.
From here you can see the whole Neral city and now I with my friends started enjoying the toy train ride and started clicking pictures of the Natural Beauty of Matheran.
Just have a look at the red sand which is found very rarely in the western ghats of India.
Now, while reaching the Matheran toy train station we took some amazing pictures of the western ghat mountains.
This picture was clicked at 7:45 am in the morning while arriving at Matheran, when the weather was very cloudy.
Look at the greenery of Matheran during the rainy season with lush green mountains.
Matheran is considered to be the most famous green zone across the world and one thing that I noticed the everywhere its written that "Green Matheran Clean Matheran".
The whole western ghats covered with clouds.
Finally we reached Matheran and the locals told us that this is the engine that was operated from 1907 to 1960 and I was amazed after listening to it.
It was around 11 am in the afternoon and we went went to see the famous Echo point.
Here your voice echo's and what you say you get to hear it.
Then we had been to King George point which is known for its natural green vegetation and the valleys.
After having some vadapav which is the local dish of Matheran and Mumbai we headed to our next point that is panorama point. It is is said that earlier terrace farming used to happen here but after certain incidents the government put a ban on it.
In the evening after taking some rest in our hotel we headed towards charlotte lake. It is the only lake in Matheran and as photography was not allowed I was only able to click a single picture of such a beautiful lake which was having greenery all around it.
Then we visited the pencil point look at the left side in the picture above a hill looking like the pencil top in between the Sahyadri Ranges.
Just have a look at the Slope point which is the most famous point and it is known for its red sand.
And the last point we visited is the most visited point by the tourists that is the sunset point. Just look at the sun setting down in between the western ghat ranges.
