The very day when, walking around St. Petersburg, we visited New Holland, and then an even larger exhibition of paintings, turned out to be extremely long. We still had a lot of time left, so it was decided to take a walk through the streets of the city, breathe in the fresh summer air.
We just talked, went to a cafe, and then just wandered around the city, looking at the architecture. I went about my usual business, photographing what we were passing by.
Along the embankments of canals and narrow streets, the road led us to an incredibly beautiful and majestic temple, the blue domes of which were studded with golden stars.
ONLINE REFERENCE: The full name of this solemn Empire—style temple is the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity of the Izmailovsky Life Guards Regiment. In everyday life, it is usually called the Trinity, Trinity-Izmailovsky or simply Izmailovsky Cathedral. The temple was built as a regimental for one of the oldest Russian regiments founded in 1730 by Empress Anna Ioannovna — Izmailovsky, in connection with which it received its name.
Evening was falling on the city, so we didn't get inside the cathedral. However, I took a lot of photos and later studied the history of the origin of this place, as well as the memorial column that is installed nearby.
According to history, the monument was erected in the reign of the Emperor Alexander III in honor of Russia's earlier victories in the liberation of European peoples from the Ottomans. When creating the monument, captured Turkish guns in the amount of 108 guns were used.
I really liked the look of the cathedral. It is almost all white and its classical architecture fits perfectly into the appearance of the city. For some reason, this is my first time here, although I visit St. Petersburg quite often.
Tomorrow I have planned an amazing excursion to the colonnade of St. Isaac's Cathedral. There will be beautiful sunny weather, so there will be a lot of beautiful panoramas of the city from a height in the selection of photos. Follow my publications!
Тот самый день, когда, гуляя по Петербургу, мы посетили Новую Голландию, а потом ещё большую выставку картин, оказался на редкость длинным. Времени у нас ещё оставалось много, поэтому решено было прогуляться по улицам города, подышать свежим летним воздухом.
Мы просто разговаривали, сходили в кафе, а потом просто бродили по городу, рассматривая архитектуру. Я занялся своим привычным делом, фотографируя то, мимо чего мы проходили.
По набережным каналов и узким улочкам дорога привела нас к невероятно красивому и величественному храму, голубые купола которого были усыпаны золотыми звёздами.
СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Полное название этого торжественного храма в стиле ампир — Собор Святой Живоначальной Троицы Лейб-Гвардии Измайловского полка. В обиходе же его обычно называют Троицкий, Троице-Измайловский или попросту Измайловский собор. Храм был сооружен в качестве полкового для одного из старейших российских полков, основанных в 1730 г. императрицей Анной Иоанновной — Измайловского, в связи с чем он и получил свое наименование.
Вечер опускался на город, поэтому внутрь собора мы не попали. Однако я сделал много фотографий и позже изучил историю возникновения этого места, а также памятной колонны, которая установлена рядом.
Согласно истории, памятник был воздвигнут в царстовование Импратора Александра III в честь более ранних побед России по освобождению Европейских народов от Османов. При создании монумента использовались трофейные турецкие пушки в количестве 108 орудий.
Мне очень понравился облик собора. Он практически весь белый и его классическая архитектура прекрасно вписывается в облик города. Почему-то я впервые здесь оказался, хотя в самом Петербурге бываю достаточно часто.
Назавтра у меня запланирована изумительная экскурсия на колоннаду Исаакиевского собора. Будет стоять прекрасная солнечная погода, поэтому в подборке фотографий будет множество красивых панорам города с высоты. Следите за моими публикациями!
