Today I will show the second and final part of the tour of the Monplaisir Palace in Peterhof. As I said earlier, I came here for the first time, although I visited my relatives in Peterhof many times and often went to the local parks and museums.
HELP FROM THE NETWORK: The Monplaisir Palace in Peterhof is located at the very edge of the Gulf of Finland in the eastern part of the Lower Park. It was built in 1714-1723 according to the plan and sketches of Peter the Great. He chose the place for construction himself and set the architects the tasks of planning and interior design of the palace. This imperial residence is considered the most beloved by Peter I. "My pleasure" is how the name monplaisir is translated from French.
The palace gives the impression that you get into a nice, expensively furnished apartment building. There is everything here to feel comfortable. Tsar Peter I, of course, thought out the local situation well. There are living rooms, fireplaces, a large kitchen.
The territory in front of the palace is neat and very beautiful. Bushes grow here, which are carefully pruned, there are sculptures, there is a fountain. Ornate paths cross the lawn, and trees create shade in the right places. It seems that the owner of the palace has only been away for a short time and will return soon.
The northern part of the palace looks directly onto the Gulf of Finland, but there is access only after the tour. There is also a neat garden with lawns and bridges, and a raised embankment with a stone balustrade separates it from the water.
We were lucky with the weather and it was very hot in those days. My daughter even joked, saying that we did not come to St. Petersburg but to a southern resort. However, such weather is not typical for these places. It is usually quite cool here even in summer, and in winter it is damp and uncomfortable. I think that in previous years the Monplaisir Palace experienced a lot of weather phenomena and could tell us a lot about the old times if it could speak.
Сегодня я покажу вторую и заключительную часть экскурсии по территории дворца Монплезир в Петергофе. Как я уже говорил ранее, сюда я попал впервые, хотя в Петергофе гостил неоднократно у своих родственников и часто ходил в здешние парки и музеи.
СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Дворец Монплезир в Петергофе располагается у самой кромки Финского залива в восточной части Нижнего парка. Его построили в 1714–1723 годах по замыслу и эскизам Петра Великого. Он сам выбрал место для строительства и поставил перед архитекторами задачи по планировке и внутреннему оформлению дворца. Эта императорская резиденция считается самой любимой Петром I. «Мое удовольствие» — так переводится название Монплезир (monplaisir) с французского.
Дворец производит такое впечатление, будто ты попадаешь в хороший, дорого обставленный жилой дом. Здесь есть всё, чтобы чувствовать себя комфортно. Царь Пётр I конечно же хорошо продумал здешнюю обстановку. Тут есть жилые комнаты, камины, большая кухня.
Территория перед дворцом аккуратная и очень красивая. Здесь растут кусты, которые аккуратно подрезаются, стоят скульптуры, есть фонтан. Газон пересекают витиеватые дорожки, а деревья создают тень в нужных местах. Такое ощущение, что хозяин дворца лишь ненадолго отлучился и скоро вернётся.
Северная часть дворца выходит прямо на Финский залив, но доступ туда есть только после экскурсии. Там также расположен аккуратный садик с газонами и мостиками, а от воды отгораживает приподнятая набережная с каменной баллюстрадой.
Нам повезло с погодой и в те дни было очень жарко. Дочь даже шутила, говоря, будто мы приехали не в Петербург а на южный курорт. Правда, такая погода не характерна для этих мест. Обычно тут довольно прохладно даже летом, а зимой сыро и неуютно. Думаю, в прежние годы дворец Монплезир испытал на себе множество погодных явлений и мог бы немало нам рассказать о прежних временах, если бы умел говорить.
