Summer is just around the corner! If you're still undecided on where to spend your next adventure, let me take you to a mystical paradise—Siquijor Island.

Siquijor, located in the Negros Island Region, is the third smallest province in the Philippines, yet it blessed with enchanting waterfalls, pristine white sand beaches, and a rich biodiversity. Dubbed Isla Del Fuego (Island of Fire) during the Spanish colonization, the island got its name from the glow of fireflies swarming molave trees. While we didn’t see many fireflies during our visit, the picture perfect sunset was surely on fire! With its growing popularity, Siquijor is quickly becoming one of the must-visit islands in the Philippines.

How To Get There

✈️ Direct flights to Dumaguete City are available. From there, you can take a barge or fast craft to Siquijor.

From Cebu City
Multiple routes are available:

🚢 Ocean Jet offers a direct Cebu-Siquijor trip via Tagbilaran.
🚌 Cebu to Dumaguete via Tampi.
🚌 Cebu to Sibulan via Santander (Ceres Bus).
🚌 Cebu-Siquijor Direct.

For schedules and rates, visit the official websites of Ceres Bus & OceanJet.

As for our trip, we opted for the Santander-Sibulan route. Upon arrival in Sibulan, we took a tricycle for ₱300 (group of 4) to Dumaguete City, which is about 9 km away from the port.

Your trip wont be complete if you don't go chasing waterfalls. Siquijor has several of them spread throughout the island.

Yum! Cause there is always room for some desserts. Must try charcoal flavored ice cream just right outside the entrance of Cambugahay Falls for only 30 pesos.
