What Will I Put on A Billboard?
I suffer, therefore I create
~―
Hello, HIVERS! 👋
Essentially I have never thought of even having anything worth putting up on a billboard for the world to see. But now that I think of it, it is one of the best ways to showcase one's art creations.
I think nearly all the billboards that I have come across are business and product advertisements. With technology each billboard seems to have a personality of its own, being a full representation of whatever the product or business being advertised. Some are even shaped to the shape of product, they show the huge creative efforts used to grab the attention of anyone and everyone, and while admiring how amazing they look, some might be actually convinced to try some product or visit a particular business.
One of the reasons I would love to travel is to use that as an opportunity to capture and experience different cultures across the globe. And not as just a hobby, but professionally taking different pictures and shooting different videos all with the aim of creating a particular theme and telling a story without necessarily using words to anyone who comes across my works of art.
Am not sure why, but existence in itself sometimes feels so hopeless, I seem to be stack in this existential crisis and without religion and dogmatic beliefs to protect me from being lost in the abyss of meaninglessness and contemplating the nature of our existence. The only way to escape this state and cease being a nihilist is through pursuing the creation of art. In my case capturing beauty, and emotion behind a lense, tweaking some aspects to make sure the final creation delivers the idea and message I have in my head.
Choosing to be a creator, and not focus on how harsh our reality is, I believe is the only way to somehow escape that existential crisis. Echoing the words of Van Gogh:
"As a suffering creature, I cannot do without something greater than I – something that is my life – the power to create."
Van Gogh
A billboard would be the perfect place to start showcasing those creations, before hopefully moving the creations to an art gallery. I would choose very few images already captured, that somehow elicit an emotion to anyone who looks at them, I would then have them printed in the highest quality print, and put them up, not on one Billboard though, but each image on its own billboard, and all of them be along the road leading up to my gallery.
Each image telling a story on its own. But overall combined, they too telling a general story. All of that and so much more all showcased in a gallery with various lights strategically placed to ensure the maximum deliverability of the desired theme.
... hmm, now that I think of it, I wanna see it all come to life!
