Daddy My Money

in Comedy Open Miclast year

We have all been tricked by our parents in one way or the other when we were little, They either make you believe in something then you grow up to realize that it doesn’t exist, or when you want to go out with them, they ask you to go and wear your shoes, only for you to return and they are gone, this particular trick will make you lose trust at an early age but I think I became smarter after one encounter with my mom.

There’s this thing African parents always do. Whenever a visitor is leaving and they give you money, then your parents would always be like “Let me keep it for, whenever you need it I will give it back to you”. I fell for this once and I handed the money to my mom but when I needed it she said “All the food you have been eating in this house, whose money is that?” well that was how I didn’t get my money back. Once bitten twice shy so I stopped giving my parents my money to help me keep. I put them in my savings box.

Well, my little sister, wasn’t wise enough, she always fell for my dad’s tricks. We always had lots of aunties and uncles come around so whenever they leave we all get something.
My sister was always excited to give hers to my dad. He always told her that he was saving her money in the bank for her.

Most times she would go on vacation to my aunt’s or uncle’s place she’d return with lots of money and gifts. She still gave it to my dad with the thought that he was saving it in the bank, I always told her that it wasn’t true but she wouldn’t listen.

On one particular day, my dad asked her to dress up that he was going to take her to the bank to show her where he had been keeping her money. She was very happy. Well, he took her to the bank to see people’s money cause the bankers are always counting money. When she returned she couldn’t stop telling me how she saw her money and how she had a lot of money. She said she saw so many people counting her money.

I just looked at my dad and he was smiling, I couldn’t help but laugh, old man, was seriously playing a fast one on his princess. She kept saving her money with my dad but unfortunately, there was no money as he was only tricking her. Sometimes, he would be like “IB won’t you save your money with me” I would scream No, and say “I don’t want my money to develop wings and fly one day”.

One day my sister wanted to buy a tablet to play games, so she asked my dad to give her all her money only for my dad to say he used it to invest in her future as her future needed to be bright, my sister who was still small and didn’t understand what that statement meant told my dad she didn’t want her future to be bright as she’s fine with having a dark future, we all burst into laughter when we heard it and the worst part was that she was crying and saying she wants a dark future. That wasn’t all as through out that week she kept crying and saying “Daddy my money”

Well, my sister grew up and realized that it wasn’t her money she saw at the bank and my dad had played a quick one on her. So when my mom had my little brother, my sister made it her responsibility to advise him not to save money with daddy or mummy cause they would never give him back. They always come up with several excuses. African parents are something else, but we love them regardless.

I actually thought I was the only one they did this to. My parents owe me alot and whenever I had asked, they'll ask me if I wasn't eating from their money. Thanks for sharing

😂😂😂😂 I think this happened to everyone, funny how we have no counter answers when they say that.

😂😂😂😂 she fell for his tricks.

She advised him because of what she has been through in Daddy's hands, and it's a good thing she did, so that he would not invest in Daddy's hands too.

True 😂😂😂

Guys are always sharp and they always find it hard to fall into the trap of our daddies then

I was also sharp na, give me small credit 😁

I cannot remember the age I realised this trick parents pull on their kids, but I know I usually got that "all the food you have been eating...blah blah" 😂

I feel so sorry for your sister...but it cracked me up bad when she said she wanted a dark future. I mean, the little girl only wanted her tablet here and now and you traded that for bright future. Who that one epp? 😂

I wonder oh😂😂😂😂 At that point she just didn’t care at all.

This is hilarious.
I guess an average African child has experienced this one way or the other.
We should go for a protest for them to return our money back to us,haha😂

😂😂😂😂 I hope they do.

You are very correct about how our parents tricked us. But let me ask you this question? Is this your natural beauty? Or are you doing same to us? 😂😂😂😂 My mic is open without a cap on his head 😅😅😅😅😅... If this is you Tru picture in this post, that is to say I have found my lost intestine 😂😂😂😂😂.... Please be free to accept my offer to become your private doctor or you hair dresser 😂😂😂😂... Lolz

Trust me most of have been victims of this trick by our parents. But for us, these tricks can't work with 21st kids who are always smart with money. They know what money can buy and can spend money themselves 😂. I really enjoyed reading the story and so I read to the end, that's an interesting one there, thanks for sharing dear @beeeee

I think my sister is an exception to 21st kids😂😂😂 she fell completely.

Thank you so much for your nice words☺️

It seems this prank happened to us all, I was an addicted money saver as a kid, my partner in crime was my mother. I used to keep a lot of money with her till one day I decided to to buy a bicycle. I asked her for my money but nothing came out in fact I was later banned from riding a bicycle 😂😂

This trick is as old as this planet Earth and there's nothing we can do to stop these people from playing their tricks on us. The only way is, when you grow up and sensible, you're free to stop patronising their banks and they won't query you for that because they know it's time.

It's seems all of you in your house are Daddy's gurl

😂😂😂😂 definitely a daddy’s girl. I love it.
