Ah, strawberries. The big, fat red berries that depending on who you ask, aren’t even really berries.
Let’s not get into fruit politics though! As I was saying, strawberries are nice, sweet, and honestly, a little vicious. One minute, they’re juicy and sweet, the next minute, they sit in the back of the fridge too long and are trying to assassinate your tastebuds.
It’s true! One hot and muggy day, I wanted some juicy strawberries to cool me down while I passed time with my computer. The strawberries hid their frozen hearts well, looking so innocently soft and red. I took the carton out of the fridge and took a bite of one.Wow, this is the hardest strawberry I’ve ever laid teeth on, I thought as I finally crunched through the solid tip of one.
Ever tasted something so cold, it hurt? Well, this strawberry burned like biting ice cream with your two front teeth. I opened my mouth in horror, but there was nothing I could do but refrain from chewing it any further and live out the pain.
I picked up another strawberry and squeezed it. It felt hard as a rock. These tiny red demons were frozen solid!
I really should wait for them to thaw, I thought.
I took another bite.
Pain.
I know what you’re thinking, but I just couldn’t wait for them to thaw. That would take too long! And plus, they were just so sweet.
My brother asked to have some and I warned him of their frozen edge. He brushed off my caution and continued to take one.
That whole time we ate them he was making unholy faces as if we were playing charades. The pain was blasting his gums, but he wouldn’t admit that for jack.
Besides those surprise frozen ones, don’t tell me you haven’t seen those fat, mutant-looking strawberries that look like a scientist's pride and joy. Those wide ones look like two or three strawberries decided to merge together and become a super-strawberry like this is some real-world merge game.
And then there are just BIG strawberries. One time my mom grabbed some strawberries from the store, and these things were BIG. Not big. BIG.
These strawberries absolutely dwarfed blueberries. Each strawberry was like four bites, which is saying something for a ‘berry’!
Goodness. I hope you now realize just how much you have to deal with to enjoy a strawberry. And if they've been sitting in the back of your fridge, give them at least 15 minutes to get their act together. Fair warning!

Lol, all you simply had to do was wait. But no, you couldn't
I used to think we were supposed to use straw to taste the berries hence the name strawberries..but I was wrong, the teeth was needed instead. Why weren’t they named ‘teethberries’??? I wonder
