Do you ever find yourself at work, desperately trying to avoid your actual tasks? Welcome to the wonderful world of "looking busy." It's a skill that many of us have honed to perfection, and in my first post here, I'm going to talk about this art form that combines procrastination, creativity, and the ability to avoid the boss's suspicious glances.
Disclaimer: This is just for fun, don't actually do it, and hopefully my boss doesn't find this out. Not to say I do it.

The Basics of 'Looking Busy'
Looking busy is the art of pretending to work while you're actually on a mission to discover the world's funniest cat videos on YouTube and Tiktok. It's like your own personal comedy show, where your coworkers and boss are the unsuspecting audience. Think of it as a grand performance where you dazzle everyone with your Oscar-worthy act of industriousness, all while your real work hides backstage, sipping coffee and enjoying the show!
The Tools of the Trade
To become a true master of looking busy, you'll need some special and essential tools:
1. The Spreadsheet Shuffle
Carry a spreadsheet with you wherever you go. Whether it's related to your work or not. Just make sure it looks complicated. Randomly click cells and type numbers. Occasionally mutter something like, "These figures are just astonishing!"
2. The Rapid Typing
Master the art of rapid typing without actually typing anything substantial. This creates the illusion that you're deep into some important report. Randomly hit the Enter key for dramatic effect. But keep a window of important stuff minimized down there, in case a supervisor wants to ruin the show by actually checking the Screen.
3. The Paper Pile-Up
Stack a bunch of papers on your desk. Bonus points if they're blank or contain doodles. When someone approaches, quickly shuffle through them while muttering about "important documents."
4. The Unnecessary Meetings
Schedule meetings, preferably with vague agendas, and invite your colleagues. This not only wastes everyone's time but also gives the impression that you're involved in productive discussions.
The Art of Distraction
Another key element of looking busy is to distract yourself with anything other than work. Here are some effective distractions:
1. Coffee Crusade
Make frequent coffee runs. Take your time, chat with coworkers, and make it an epic journey. Extra points if you come back with snacks for the team.
2. Desk Cleaning Extravaganza
Claim that your desk is a mess and spend hours organizing it. Move things from one spot to another, occasionally exclaiming, "This is much better!"
The Grand Finale
To conclude your "looking busy" performance, you must always appear slightly stressed. Furrow your brow, sigh loudly, and occasionally mutter about tight deadlines or an overwhelming workload.
Remember, "looking busy" is all about the illusion. Your coworkers and boss may never suspect that you're actually a productivity ninja in disguise, but at least you'll have them convinced that you're working hard.
So go ahead, embrace the art of "looking busy" and master this skill. After all, it's not about what you do; it's about what others think you're doing!
Hope you enjoyed it.
The rapid typing goes well, and I see so many workers adoption this method, this is when you enter their office, then as they are talking to you, asking you to give them sometimes to look into your matter, you will see them, checking something else on their computer, those kinds of workers would direct you to meet another colleagues, because on no account, would he gives solutions to what you want.
