Es digno de lamentar la situación económica y toda índole por la que estamos pasando el país y es de comprender que de debido a ello se hayan tenido que postergar estas fiestas populares que eras el mayor aliciente para emprender nuevas metas. Por el momento solo nos queda recordar y esperar a que vengan tiempos mejores.
Qué tiempos aquellos, desde meses antes que comenzaran, ya uno iba planificándose para asistir a los CARNAVALES , que se celebraban alternadamente en todos los municipios de la provincia, nuestra numerosa familia vivía en el barrio BARBACOA, este lugar quedaba equidistante de tres municipios , Pinar del Río, San Luis y San juan y Martínez... Aunque preferíamos los del municipio de Pinar, a algunos nos gustaba tanto que seguíamos de parranda de uno en otro hasta el final del mes.

Con paseos de carrozas, comparsas, músicas infantiles que eran el goce de los niños, se cubrían las calles de serpentinas, niños con matracas ,carretas, pitos y saboreando muchas golosinas.

Es una lastima que éstos festejos tuvieran que ser suspendidos por la mala gestión gubernamental, las personas disfrutaban mucho de estos carnavales a pesar de que muchos no podían acceder a algunas distracciones especiales, pero bastaba zapatera a ritmo de conga detrás de las comparsas y las carrozas, no sé si las nuevas generaciones sepan de nuevo lo que es un carnaval en Cuba si esto sigue como va, pero se vale compartir los recuerdos de lo que fue una vez un poco de distracción en etapa de carnavales.
