I have seen a few of these A-Z challenges on the Hive, and though I don't know who started this one, I think its a fantastic idea to be able to share some of the music I love to listen to. I am going to work through the alphabet beginning of course with A. Each post that I do for this challenge I will strive to include 3 Artists: 1 established Metal band, 1 smaller unknown Metal band, and 1 Bonus (this will be an eclectic choice picked from any genre for example from Spice Girls to Johnny Cash and anything in between).
Letter A
Established Metal Band - Akercocke
An Extreme Metal band from the UK, Akercocke play predominantly Blackened Death Metal, with some progressive elements which are evident particularly on later releases. They have a strong back catalogue, but in my opinion, their defining album is the magnificent "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone"
Underground Metal Band - Aubzagl
I love this little EP titled Eilifa Kuldinn. A fantastic atmospheric black metal release from this English band, full of aggression and plenty of melody. Considering it is only their first release, via UKEM Records, its definitely a band to keep an eye on...
Bonus Artist - Avril Lavigne
I know I'll get flack for this, I don't flippin' care. Music is a personal thing and we can all listen to what the hell we want. Since Avril burst on the scene with the hit single 'Complicated' I have enjoyed every release (except 3rd album The Best Damn Thing which was truly awful). Personally my favourite release is Goodbye Lullaby, I think it is the strongest of her releases, and marks the point in her career where she starts to write music for her own sake, and not to please fans or sell records.
