Limp Bizkit dropped Still Sucks a full 10 years after the release of their Gold Cobra record, and while I felt that I had outgrown this band that I can indeed credit as a/the gateway into the magical world of heavy metal, I couldn't help but be drawn to that familiar and magnetic energy they exude, not to mention Durst's hilarious toupee and loud outfits :).
The Bizkit's ability to stay true to who they have always been, while simultaneously reinventing themselves is pro-wrestling-level stuff. I like that they are a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously, and have no illusion concerning their public perception. They carry who they are like armor, and thus can never be hurt by anyone who thrusts a nose in the air pretending to be above their brand of alternative nu-metal.
Of course, this all begs the question, does Limp Bizkit still suck along with this record. Well, I suppose it does, but I hardly feel like that even matters. The album sports a relatively crappy cover, and the tracks do sound like they were a series of jam sessions recorded on the spot, but there were still elements I truly enjoyed, namely the eclectic blend of genres that worked to play to the band's time and tested strenths. The following tracks stood out to me the most:
1 - Don't Change: A beautiful slow jam that is still stuck in my head. Great for pensive reflection while watching the waves crash against the rocks.
2 - Turn It Up, Bit*h: A nice ode to the alternative hip-hop of old :).
3 - You Bring Out the Worst In Me: For a little something heavier

Out of Style: The opening track sets the pace for the album, and the video is hilarious nightmare fuel lol!
