Nerd By Northwest #346 - "Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Premiere"
(Click on the image to see the full-size version)
I had the chance to see this movie on opening day before most people (living in an East Asia timezone provides a natural advantage there), so you'd think I'd be able to get this comic out earlier than I did. But life has a knack for getting in the way... a broken water heater, a leaking pipe in my office and all the damage that did (#$%&!), and our family's obligatory summer camping trip all claimed priority. But on the bright side, it gave everyone here extra time to see the movie before I showed Dogpool & Kidpool spoilers here. So yeah, I'm just gonna say that the timing was totally intentional. 😁
Oh, and while I have zero complaints about Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (heck, I even liked him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as awkward as much of that movie was) I gotta say I'm on Dan's side with this one. Wolverine in the comics right from the outset was drawn as a shorter, stockier mutant. Something like five-feet three-inches. With Dan being on the shorter side, perhaps it's natural that Wolverine would be his favorite X-Men hero.
Or maybe he just has a repressed desire to cut and slash people who are annoying him. And while as much as I advocate non-violence, a part of me is on his side on that one too... 😏

That movie was great. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who might object to profanity and blood, but it's a Deadpool movie. Besides, the rating is right there. If you don't want that content, watch something else. But this was a movie that didn't disappoint.
I'm just half-surprised (also pleasantly surprised) Marvel Studios gave the writers as much free reign as they did... both with the mature content and some of the digs at Marvel. And you're right, if anyone had seen even a few minutes of either Deadpool 1 or 2, they should've already known what they were getting into!
I saw it a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Some comic movies are too serious, but this just goes for every possible joke and most are good.

I particularly enjoyed when he visited all those different Wolverine variants (some of them I actually remember from the comics way back). And you just know Henry Cavill got more than a little joy playing that scene as the 'Cavillrene' with Deadpool ranting how dumb the DC film franchise was in dropping him from the Superman role and how they would TOTALLY treat him so much better at Marvel... 😆
We watched the first 2 over the weekend as my other half hasn't seen them. There was at least one dig at DC in there as well as a few Green Lantern references. I've not read the comics, but there's so much to enjoy anyway. I may get to see this new movie again now she's into it.
