I'm curious, we usually use corn, dough balls or prepared commercially bait to catch the carp we have here. Do you use similar bait to catch them there?
As the lake where I go is natural (I mean, it is artificial, but they don't feed the fish, and it's not "commercial" water), I try to fish without using any "strong" bait (chemicals and stuff that pro-fishermen use)... So, I'm using corn, and feeding before fishing with a combo that I prepare at home... As carp is like a pig, eating everything, and lazy as f... 😂
I've known people to do that, we call it chumming. They will drop a bunch of homemade prepared bait in a particular (secret) area a few days or a week before fishing it. When it's time to fish they use that bait in that area. It not legal everywhere here most do this targeting catfish. I personally haven't done it.
Interesting... I never heard that it is illegal in some other parts of the world... But, I get it if you attract fish and you catch it in some "illegal" way... that makes sense...
