Порадувала мене сьогодні новина про звільнення від рашистів острова Зміїний. Дуже надіюсь, що росіяни втікли назавжди.
Острів Зміїний дуже маленький, але має свою цікаву історію.
Як і сьогодні, в різні історичні періоди , острів відігравав свою важливу роль.

‘В роки великої грецької колонізації Північного Причорномор’я в 8 столітті до нашої ери острів був одним із численних сакральних складових культури стародавніх греків.
За легендою, острів підняла з моря богиня Фетіда для свого сина Ахілла. До острова причалювали кораблі з торговцями, військовими, щоб навідатись до храму Ахіла-Понтарха, який вважався владикою і покровителем Чорного моря та поклонитись Ахіллесу і принести жертву.
З 1 сторіччя до нашої ери аж до 456 року острів знаходився у складі Римської імперії, потім до 15 сторіччя – Візантії.
З 15 сторіччя острів належав Османській імперії.
По закінченню російсько-турецької війни 1787–1791, згідно з Ясською угодою, острів Зміїний відійшов до Російської імперії.
Після поразки Російської імперії в Кримській війні 1853–1856 острів відійшов до Молдовського князівства.
23 травня 1948 року острів Зміїний перейшов до складу СРСР та був долучений до складу Ізмаїльської області Української РСР.
З 1991 року, він став частиною Кілійського району Одеської області.’

З того часу , як острів став частиною незалежної України, він почав розвиватись в напрямку науки, туризму, відпочинку.
На острові було відкрито пошту, філію банку, ретранслятор мобільного зв'язку, налагоджено кабельний зв'язок.
2003 року на острові створена науково-дослідна станція «Острів Зміїний», на якій постійно працювали вахтовим методом науковці Одеського національного університету ім. І. І. Мечникова.
Було споруджено причал для маломірних суден. Планувалось налагодження постійного судноплавного сполучення з м.Кілія.
З 2007 року господарським і житловим будовам на острові Зміїний було надано статусу селища з назвою Біле.
В держави було багато планів по подальшій розбудові острова.
Нажаль, поки що реалізувати ці плани нема можливості.
Через віроломний напад росії на нашу державу на острові зруйновано навіть те , що вже було збудовано.
Але я впевнений, що відразу після нашої перемоги , острів Зміїний буде відбудований і, безумовно, стане ‘туристичною меккою’.
