In 2016, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) established the Working Group on Star Names (WGSN) to catalog and standardize star names. On September 12, 2016, the WGSN approved the name "Alkes" for this star, which is now included in the IAU star name catalog. ⚫ J1131-1231 Black Hole with a Quasar in the Crater constellation. Quasars are extremely bright distant galaxies powered by supermassive black holes located at their centers.

The black hole in RX J1131 rotates at over half the speed of light, indicating that it likely grew through mergers rather than accreting material from different directions.

Crater 2 is one of the largest (in terms of linear dimensions) satellites of the Milky Way, surpassed only by the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds and the dwarf elliptical galaxy in Sagittarius. Despite this, Crater 2 is one of the dimmest galaxies (it's the dimmest known star system in the Universe based on surface brightness).

I read about this and it's fascinating, such a tiny galaxy orbiting our own. I've always wondered why it's so dim when it's so close. Andromeda is so easy to see in comparison.
