We joke with my husband that if we don’t hear an air raid siren for a long time, we shouldn't talk about it out loud, not to jinx it. My husband and I are absolutely not superstitious, we do not believe in any sign. But during the war new facets are revealed in everyone.
Жартуємо з чоловіком про те, що, якщо довго не чути повітряної тривоги, не можна говорити про це вголос, бо можна наврочити. Ми з чоловіком абсолютно не забобонні, ми не віримо в жодну прикмету. Але під час війни у людині, так би мовити, відкриваються нові грані.
There was no alarm for a whole day, and once we rejoiced aloud about it, it went off with its piercing howl, which penetrates into every cell of warm, quiet, summer evenings, shaking the imaginary calmness and idyll, instilling fear and horror, which one will never get used to.
Тривоги не було цілої доби, і тільки ми встигли вголос цьому порадіти, як вона задзвеніла своїм пронизливим виттям, яке проникає в кожну клітину теплих, тихих, літніх вечорів, стрясаючи уявний спокій та ідилію, вселяючи страх і жах, до яких ніколи не звикнути.

Ukraine continues its heroic resistance to the aggressor, fierce battles are being waged along the front line, in particular in Sieverodonetsk and other cities of the Luhansk region. Yesterday there was a missile attack on the Ternopil region. There are no dead, but there are many wounded, in particular children. One of the wounded is a 12-year-old girl from Kharkiv, who was evacuated from there so as not to become a victim of shelling. Such a bitter irony of fate.

Вчора було здійснено ракетний удар по Тернопільській області. Загиблих немає, але багато поранених, зокрема діти. Одна з поранених – дівчинка 12-ти років із Харкова, яка евакуювалася звідти, щоб не стати жертвою обстрілу. Ось така гірка іронія долі.

The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning to de-occupy some territories of the Zaporizhzhia region in the near future, and in some areas they have already been able to push back the orcs by 5-7 km. That is how, meter by meter, kilometer by kilometer, the entire Ukrainian land will be liberated, to the last occupier. These words certainly give hope. At the same time, in the occupied Melitopol, the rashists have already begun distributing russian passports. The number of people who wished to receive them is unknown. At the same time, as many as 23 (!) cripples responded to a similar initiative in Kherson, including some former mayor and current collaborator, whose name I don’t even want to remember. It is sad to hear the news about what is happening in Kherson, how hard it is for people to live there and how even harder it is to get out of there. But Kherson has always been and will be Ukraine. I do not believe that it can become russian. The turnout for their "passports" proves this.
Мер Мелітополя Іван Федоров повідомив про те, що ЗСУ найближчим часом планують деокупувати деякі території Запорізької області, а за деякими напрямками вже змогли відкинути орків на 5-7 км. Саме так, метр за метром, кілометр за кілометром і звільнятиметься вся українська земля, до останнього окупанта. Ці слова, звісно, вселяють надію. Водночас, в окупованому Мелітополі рашисти вже почали роздавати російські паспорти. Кількість людей, які забажали їх отримати, невідома. При цьому на схожу ініціативу у Херсоні відгукнулися аж 23(!) каліки, зокрема якийсь колишній мер та нинішній колаборант, ім'я якого навіть не хочеться запам'ятовувати. Сумно чути новини про те, що відбувайся в Херсоні, як важко людям там живеться і як ще важче звідти вибиратись. Але Херсон завжди був і буде Україною. Я не вірю у те, що він може стати російським. Явка за їхніми паспортами це доводить.

Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, has again arrived in Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyi and discuss progress on European integration. All this time, she has shown an active pro-Ukrainian position and in every possible way expressed support for Ukraine in our European integration aspirations. During the visit, von der Leyen said that by the end of next week, Ukraine will receive a conclusion on whether we can get the status of a candidate. I look forward to a decision that will be significant for Ukraine. Many experts and politicians have repeatedly noted that the decision of the European Union on Ukraine will determine not only the fate of Ukraine, but also the fate of the EU itself. Although not all countries in the Union itself understand this. Nevertheless, I believe that our efforts will be appreciated. After all, we are the "gates" that are now deterring russian aggression, powerfully defending the whole of Eastern Europe, at least.
У Київ знову прибула Урсула фон дер Ляєн, голова Єврокомісії, щоб зустрітися із Зеленським та обговорити прогрес щодо Євроінтеграції. Весь цей час вона виявляла активну проукраїнську позицію та всіляко висловлювала підтримку Україні у наших євроінтеграційних прагненнях. Під час візиту фон дер Ляєн повідомила, що до кінця наступного тижня Україна отримає висновок, чи можемо ми отримати статус кандидата. З нетерпінням чекаю на рішення, яке буде знаковим для України. Багато експертів та політичних діячів неодноразово зазначали, що рішення Євросоюзу щодо України визначить не лише долю України, а й долю самого ЄС. Хоч і не всі країни самого Союзу це розуміють. Тим не менш, вірю, що наші зусилля будуть гідно оцінені, адже ми є саме тими "воротами", що зараз стримують російську агресію, потужно захищаючи всю Східну Європу, як мінімум.
