Who doesn't love chocolate!! I guess only a few don't like chocolate. Some can't have chocolate due to health issues despite of love for the chocolates. Which category I am in!! Hmm... Well, when I was a kid, I preferred ice cream more than chocolates, to be honest, but now the opposite. I still like ice cream but I love chocolate more. My love for chocolate started when I tasted Toblerone and I instantly fell in love with chocolates. I am so in love with Toblerone still and I cannot resist buying it whenever I see it in front of me in the shop. Back then, this Swiss delight was not available in my country. My father's friend gifted me this chocolate so basically he was the one who introduced me to Toblerone Swiss Chocolate. Shame, I cannot remember his face or name or anything now. Later, my favorite chocolate list diversified and I added Bounty to my favorite list. I love Bounty because of the coconut filling. These chocolates are now available everywhere and they are still on my favourite list. I eat dark chocolate but I always need to check the percentage before buying.
Now, I cannot have chocolate due to health issues but I always cheat when it comes to eating chocolates. It starts by having a piece or a slice of chocolates but then I finish a full choco-bar and crave more and more...I also collect chocolates from different countries. So far, I liked Belgian Chocolates, Some specific company chocolates like ROSHEN (Ukraine), LINDT, VENCHI (Italy), Ferrero Rocher (Italy), and many more but SWISS Chocolates are still my preference. I also visited the Lindt Chocolate Museum in Cologne, Germany. So, you see I have a fascination with chocolate...
Van der Burgh Chocolaad, Delft- Netherlands
So during my time in Delft, Netherlands; I discovered this chocolate shop called Van der Burgh Chocolaad shop. Obviously, I was curious when I saw they make handmade chocolates. The shop was located near the canal and the exterior of the shop was beautiful. So, overall, I knew that I would be going inside and would grab some chocolates as well as do some free chocolate tasting.
Van der Burgh Chocolaad was founded in the Netherlands, especially in Delft city and hand-processed chocolate bars make this brand unique. I personally loved their packaging, they are beautiful and feel fancy, not like typical chocolate packaging. At first, they (this brand) started making chocolates at home in 2011 and later they diversified their business. So basically a small business turned into a successful business. You can read about them here.
As I mentioned I have been to many chocolate shops, and they were amazing. But what makes this shop outstanding is the display and interior of the shop. Basically, I liked how they displayed the chocolates to give a premium-quality look. To be honest, the interior of the shop was simple, nothing fancy but the simplicity made the display of the chocolates outstanding.
If you see these photos, you will understand what I am talking about. Each piece of chocolate bar and packet was kept in a beautifully organized way. Infront of the chocolate display, details were written along with the price...
It's very difficult to choose a few bars of chocolates when you have a lot of options in front of you. I was confused to be honest because there were a lot of familiar flavored chocolates that I like to eat often. So, I ended up choosing a milk with hazelnut chocolate bar, a pistachio dark chocolate bar, and a pistachio nougat bar.
When I went to pay for the chocolates, I noticed a lady was working behind the cashier counter. She was basically working on the packaging of the chocolates. It was nice to see how delicately she was working. I won't say the chocolates were so expensive but they were not so cheap. Another lady gave me some slices of chocolates for taste with a little bit of explanation. I liked how they treated their customers.
After leaving the shop, I instantly opened a package and started eating the chocolate bar while walking in the beautiful Delft city. Eating a delicious, smooth-flavored handmade chocolate bar while walking and enjoying the beautiful city view was a delightful feeling. Something different than the usual feeling because in Delft I was having leisurely time without any destination.
Delft is a beautiful city in the Netherlands but the sweetness of the chocolate had added an extra touch to my enjoyment. Never thought in life that I would have this kind of experience and feelings in life...

That is such a wonderful feeling! Lovely shots you made along the way, too! 😊
The weather was nice when I was in Delft. It was autumn, not so cold or hot, kind of chilly sunny day so I had a pleasant walk. Saw a lot of amazing locations...I hope you are well, thanks @thekittygirl
I baldy love for Toblerone it’s the chocolate that got me hooked too.
Isn't it so delicious!! I just love it...
Bounty! Milk chocolate version only. One of my top 3, definitely. I could eat a dozen at a time! Sadly I've never seen Bounties on sale in Thailand, but delicious Toblerones are easy to find. In the UK, the really huge Toblerones are rather a Christmas tradition.
I must confess Im not a huge fan of dark chocolate, especially the ones with the higher percentage of cocoa in them, and I hate coffee chocolates. Too bitter for me. I'm definitely a milky sweet guy lol.
Sorry I didnt get any further than the chocolate shop pictures, I'm still trying to choose my perfect basket full after magnifying the photos!
Have the best weekend you possibly can and take care always :-)
Is Bounty expensive in Thailand? I thought they were easy to find there 🤣, In Ukraine, Bounty was so cheap before...Also, I am not a big fan of dark chocolate like you where there is a high percentage of cocoa, I don't like that bitterness. Recently I fell in love with hot chocolate bombs from Belgium, they are just awesome and so delicious.
I bought them from Belgium and they are so delicious.
I personally loved the packaging of these NL chocolates, they are very refined and fancy. I still prefer Swiss chocolate though in terms of the taste...
I wish you a great weekend my friend...@nathen007
Ive never actually seen a Bounty in Thailand :-( There isn't a huge range in the shops here, just Snickers, a bit of Cadburys and Hersheys. Of course, KitKats are huge as they are everywhere in Asia but chocolate just doesn't taste the same in Asia as it does in Europe.
Ohhhh those chocolate bombs look delicious. That's it, I feel the urge to pop out to the shops now... :-)
You take care as always, my friend. Catch you soon :-)
You were in heaven!! I could live eating chocolate as a unique meal. 🤣
Yes, and I would love to be such kind of heaven always 😁. Currently having Bounty while replying to your comment...🤣
We could be she: 🤣
🤣 100% sure...
What a magical place, I would love to live there ✨😍
Me too but unfortunately no houses were available for me near the canal...😁
Awww, Delft is one of my favorite cities in the NL. Been there years ago and has a special place in my heart. Fingers crossed I can go back soon.
It was so lovely to see Delft on you photos 😍🤗🤗
I also liked Delft a lot, a good city to live in and not crowded at all. I saw some nice boutique shops there, a very cheerful city with a lot of activities. Also, rent is not so expensive compared to other cities in NL...
Do you remember which locations you have visited back then? @erikah... Have a beautiful weekend...
I had limited time, only a few hours, do I visited the famous Delft pottery, the original one, which unfortunately does not exist anymore. Then the two churches, the old one and the new one and walked around the main square and the canals.
I'm glad to know it's not as expensive as the other cities.
I wish you a wonderful weekend 😘
You visited famous pottery, you were so lucky. They now have the Royal Delftware Museum but unfortunately, I couldn't go because I didn't book the ticket before. I saw both churches though and there was another museum called Museum Prinsenhof Delft. The canal side was so pretty...
I hope you will come to the Netherlands again... Take care...
Beautiful pictures! I also love chocolates. My favorite chocolate is by far a local Seattle chocolate maker: Fran's Chocolate. In particular I love their double chocolate figs: https://frans.com/fruits-nuts/fruits/double-chocolate-figs and Brandied Cherries: https://frans.com/brandied-cherries
We also have Roshen chocolates available at the local Eastern-European stores, my wife loves Romashka from Roshen :)
I Instantly checked Fran's chocolate before commenting and now I am looking at coconut gold bars only with tempting eyes...🤣
Never eaten Double Chocolate Figs, need to find those here...You like fruity flavors mostly right?
Ah, Romashka!! It was so popular in Ukraine and people loved to gift this chocolate to each other...Wafers from Roshen is my all-time favourite...
We should try their Wafers :) I like all kinds of chocolate, but in particular dark chocolate and truffles.
Dark chocolate and Truffles, yum... Try wafers, maybe you will like them...
Oh, so you can remember the toblerone but not the poor man's name or face?? I'm pleased you have your priorities right. 🤣
I love chocolate. A little too much, I'm afraid.
😷 It's just a slip of mind... 🤐 My Brain deleted that information...🤣
Yes, you told me you can't have :(...
Mmmm .... I will forgive you. 🙂
Ohh I love chocolate too, I wouldn't know what to buy if I go to that chocolate store, I like them all. I was also a fan of toblerone when I lived in Holland, I tried them all and in the end I preferred the dark one, they are not sold here. I loved seeing these pictures of Delft, it is a very beautiful city, it brought back nice memories. Best regards my dear friend 🤗
I also tried other options Toblerone but I stuck to the original one because I get to remember my childhood memories. For how long have you stayed in Holland?
I spent a year 1992-93 in Wageningen, I have very nice memories, I will never forget them. On weekends I went by train to the different provinces, the whole of Holland is beautiful 🥰🤗
I love chocolate, almost madly :) 😀🍫👍❤️
So I've really enjoyed your post. 👍
I hope you are well 👏😀👍❤️
