I was in St.Petersburg for the first time in 1998, right after the stock market crash. Several times a day I could see some big western car being towed by some small Lada - apparently they simply couldn't afford maintaining the western cars. I expect it's going to be much worse this time, with imports of spare parts stopping up, and ... there are almost no Russian-produced cars left to tow the western cars on the streets in St.Petersburg! Except, perhaps some few ones produced by the Renault-owned factories.
