Double standards are inherent in many businesses, for which profit is paramount. When you ask the business not to deal with Russia because it is at war with the civilians in Ukraine, you point out the potential loss of money to them. Indeed, for most large companies, the financial component weighs much more than the reputation.

But when a private humanitarian organization, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, cooperates with the Russian regime, it is completely on the verge of good and evil.

What exactly is it about?

On March 23, Peter Mauer, Chairman of the ICRC (Geneva, Switzerland), met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, a war criminal. Calling Lavrov a war criminal is not just a figure of speech, it is the official position of the governments of a number of European countries. In addition, he is a participant in Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia in the international tribunal in the Hague.

So Mr. Mauer shook Lavrov's hand kindly and smiled at him in public. They also agreed that the ICRC would open an office in Rostov-on-Don.

What is the problem here, considering that the ICRC must maintain neutrality?

Yes, it is true, but since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian side has repeatedly asked the ICRC to help with the evacuation and supply of food to Chernihiv, for example, and this was officially denied. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece asked Peter Mauer to accompany him for the delivery of humanitarian goods to Mariupol, but the ICRC refused again. The ICRC even banned Ukrainian volunteer evacuation groups from using their flag for security.

However, the ICRC did not protest against Russian militants, who used the ICRC flag as a cover for the operation to seize several Ukrainian settlements. There wasn’t even any verbal statement on that - which would be the easy thing to do.

And Mr. Mauer, of course, could not be unaware that the Russians arrange real concentration camps for Ukrainians that are forcibly deported from Mariupol in Rostov-on-Don. People have their belongings confiscated, their documents destroyed and sent to Siberia and Sakhalin for forced resettlement.

It should be added that the lion's share of the money donated to Ukrainian refugees by world celebrities went to the Red Cross. Now the money will be used to open an office to help Ukrainians in the concentration camp. Mauer could just focus on the humanitarian issues and neither shake Lavrov's hand nor open an office in a Russian city. But he did it. Because he is an ugly businessman who is hiding behind a humanitarian mission to "process" the donations of celebrities.

Що не так з Міжнародним Комітетом Червоного Хреста?

Подвійні стандарти притаманні багатьом бізнес-структурам, для котрих прибуток стоїть понад усе. Коли ви закликаєте бізнес не мати справ з Росією через те, що вона веде війну з мирним населенням України – ви вказуєте їм на потенційні втрати у грошах. Дійсно, для більшості великих компаній фінансова складова важить набагато більше ніж репутаційна.

Але коли з російським режимом показово співпрацює приватна гуманітарна організація на зразок Міжнародного комітету червоного Хреста – це абсолютно за гранню добра і зла.

Про що саме йдеться?

23-го березня голова МКЧХ (штаб-квартира у Женеві, Швейцарія) Пітер Мауер зустрівся з міністром закордонних справ Росії, військовим злочинцем, Сергієм Лавровим. Військовий злочинець стосовно цього пана, це не якийсь літературний образ – це офіційна позиція урядів низки європейських країн. Крім того, він є фігурантом позову України проти Росії до міжнародного трибуналу у Гаазі.

Отже, пан Мауер приязно потис Лаврову руку і публічно посміхався до нього. Також, вони домовились, що МКЧХ відкриє свій офіс у Ростові-на-Дону.

У чому ж тут проблема, адже ЧХ має підтримувати нейтралітет?

Так-то воно так, але з самого початку війни українська сторона кілька разів просила Міжнародний Комітет ЧХ допомогти з евакуацією та поставками продуктів до Чернігова, наприклад, але в цьому було офіційно відмовлено. Міністр закордонних справ Греції попросив Пітера Мауера скласти йому компанію в доставці гуманітарного вантажу до Маріуполя – знову відмова. МКЧХ навіть заборонив використовувати свій прапор українським волонтерським евакуаційним групам для підстраховки.

Тоді як жодного протесту з боку організації не пролунало до російських бойовиків, котрі використали прапор ЧХ як прикриття для операції захоплення кількох українських населених пунктів. Навіть формального письмового протесту – котрий нічого не вартує.

А ще, пан Мауер, безперечно, не міг не знати, що саме в Ростові-на-Дону росіяни влаштовують справжні концентраційні табори для українців яких силоміць вивозять з Маріуполя. У людей відбирають речі, знищують їх документи і відправляють до Сибіру та Сахаліну для примусового розселення.

Тут ще варто додати, що левова частка грошей, котрі жертвували на українських біженців світові знаменитості пішли саме у Червоний Хрест. Тепер на ці гроші буде відкито офіс, щоб допомагати українцям у концтаборі. Мауер цілком міг не тиснути руку Лаврову, не відкривати офіс у російському місті, просто обмежитись гуманітарними питаннями. Але не став. Тому що це бридкий ділок, котрий прикривається гуманітарною місією, щоб “освоювати” пожертви селебріті.

До чого я все це, якщо ви раптом хочете допомогти українським вимушеним переселенцям – робіть це напряму відповідній державній гуманітарній організації. Рахунки для таких переказів я додаю до цього тексту.
