The love of a mother for her children is unconditional. We give everything as much as possible to make them happy. But sometimes not all of their wishes may be granted. Not all of their plans may realize since not all the time we are ready to provide or ready to fulfill what they want or wish. Aside from that, it is not good to give immediately whatever demands of our children. This will make them spoiled and lead them to disobedience when not granted. My dear Hive friends, I just want to share how my youngest daughter planned her 8th birthday but it was not realized or come into reality for some reason.
She celebrated her birthday last Tuesday. Before her birthday she told me what kind of birthday celebration she wants. This daughter of mine is the youngest and we usually invite some of our relatives and friends every time we celebrated her birthday. This is also our way of family gatherings to meet them and bond with each other.
So when her birthday was approaching, she said " Mama this is what I want for my birthday; "We must have a tarpaulin printed with My Daughter turns 8 years old. We must have guests like my cousins, auntie, uncle, your colleague, and Papa's co-worker. You rent a chair, and tent, and prepare our house so, therefore you must be absent for 5 days. You change the setting of your potted plants to make the space bigger and more spacious. We will wear a T-shirt printed with my baby turning 8 and I wear a T-shirt with a print I am turning 8, foImy ate, My little sister turns 8. Then we must have lechon, ice cream, Biko and a lot more. My motif is lavender and white. That's it mama" Upon hearing this statement I laughed. I asked her where she got that idea. But she told me that those ideas were her own. I can't imagine an 8-year-old already had a plan for an occasion. I just smile and said to her that all her wishes will be realized if we have a budget.
Before Her Birthday
A day before my daughter's birthday I explained to her that I can't fulfill her dream party since we are out of budget. I told her that we were out of budget by the time her father had undergone an eye operation, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, complications, and kidney stones. We haven't recovered yet since her father already had maintenance. Therefore I can't fulfill what she wants.
My daughter just understood what I am saying and much more with our situation. She only had one favor. That is to cook a biko or malagkit for her. Biko is one Filipino native dish for snacks that almost all Filipinos loved to eat and she loved it too.
The Day of Her Birthday
We celebrated her birthday very simply and had no decorations. We went to church and lit a candle to thank God for giving her the gift of life. After that, I went to the market to buy ingredients for our simple preparation. I prepared a few dishes for the family and our nearby relatives. I prepared bami, shrimp, fried chicken,humba, grilled pork, and of course the BIKO. I bought a cake and one gallon of ice cream. We invited her cousins, Tita and Titos, Lola, and Lolo who were just our neighbors. She was so happy with her simple birthday preparation and the more she will be happy if there was a Happy Birthday Song while blowing out her candle. That was very simple but for her, it was already great. According to her, she wished for good health, more blessing, happiness, security and to become successful someday.

They said, "The first person who loves you the most is your mother". And that's true, in the sense that I see it and observe it in others.
And the best thing that parents could offer to their children is unconditional love.
Salute to you ma'am dehai for the unconditional love you give to your daughters. I see how you nurtured and guide them to be the best version of themselves. And that's the best gift that children have, not just on their birthday, but every day.
The celebration is simple but very satisfying. I can see the happiness in the celebrant's eyes.
