El 19 de Marzo, cumplió años el hombre de mi vida y sí, hablo de mi papá, no es mi abuelo jajaja, aun cuando es bastante mayorcito. Recuerdo que cuando yo era adolescente un chico en la calle nos vio pasar y en lugar de gritarle "suegro", le gritó "abuelo" porque lo vio algo mayor para ser mi papá 😂 y mi papá se puso furioso. Aún se molesta cuando recuerdo esta anécdota.
Soy la 7ma en la línea de hijos que tiene mi papá (10), por eso cuando nací él ya tenia 39 años (no era tan mayor) y soy la hija mayor de su segundo matrimonio. A pesar de ser un padre con muchos hijos y ser en nuestros primeros años de vida, el único proveedor, mi papá siempre ha estado presentes para todos, aún en medio de la distancia en algunos casos. Mi papá nos regala flores, nos cargaba, nos llevaba y buscaba al colegio, a veces nos consentía tanto que nuestras amigas le decían "Papá" ya que querían uno como él y nosotras (las hijas), siempre hemos celado eso.
En estos años lo he visto fuerte, pero también lo he visto llorar, aunque muy poco, lo he visto ser una persona leal, respetuosa, honesta, jamás ha dañado a otro y mucho menos engañar a alguien. Lo he visto ser un buen amigo, esposo, padre, abuelo y ahora bisabuelo.
Mi papá tiene miles de anécdotas (ya saben a quién salí), a veces creo que ha estado en todos los sitios posibles, pues cada vez que viajo con él me cuenta la historia del pueblo o ciudad por donde pasamos y me ha llegado a decir que él estuvo de joven o niño allí jajaja. Le creo, si él lo dice, es así. Le gusta el dulce y por eso su torta de cumpleaños casi siempre es una de "tres leches", siempre ha sido muy saludable, pero este año con sus 77 años recién cumplidos, ha tenido algunas complicaciones de salud y ha tenido que tomar medicamentos como nunca antes.
Mi papá y yo tenemos el récord de cirugías en la familia, somos los que más hemos visitado un quirofano. Saqué la barba partida por él y lo blanco, soy la hija más blanca qué tiene. También es quien más me ha consentido, recuerdo que una vez mi mamá le dijo que me pegara por algo que hice y el entró al cuarto con el cinturón y comenzó a pegarle al colchón y yo tipo 😳, entonces me dijo "llora, para que tu mamá crea que te estoy castigando" jajajaja (mami, no leas esto). Sin duda mi papá es el mejor, sí el mejor. En su cumpleaños fuimos algunos de sus hijos y nietos, porque no todos están cerca y la pasamos bien, Amelie al final tenía mucho sueño pero el abuelo (su tata, asi le dice) le puso videos para entretenerla.

On March 19th, the man of my life had his birthday, and yes, I'm talking about my dad—not my grandfather, haha—even though he's quite old. I remember when I was a teenager, a guy on the street saw us walking by, and instead of calling him "father-in-law," he shouted "grandpa" because he thought my dad looked too old to be my father. My dad was furious! He still gets annoyed when I bring up this story.
I am the 7th in line among my dad's ten children, so when I was born, he was already 39 (not that old), and I am the eldest daughter from his second marriage. Despite being a father to many kids and, during our early years, the sole provider, my dad has always been present for all of us—even when distance was a factor in some cases. My dad would give us flowers, carry us, take us to and pick us up from school. Sometimes, he spoiled us so much that our friends called him "Dad" because they wanted a father like him, and we, his daughters, were always a bit possessive about that.
Over the years, I have seen him strong, but I have also seen him cry—though very rarely. I have seen him be a loyal, respectful, and honest person. He has never harmed or deceived anyone. I have seen him be a good friend, husband, father, grandfather, and now great-grandfather.
My dad has thousands of stories (now you know where I get it from). Sometimes, I think he has been everywhere because every time we travel together, he tells me the history of every town or city we pass through, and he always ends up saying that he was there when he was young or a child. Haha! I believe him—if he says so, then it must be true. He has a sweet tooth, so his birthday cake is almost always a "tres leches" cake. He has always been very healthy, but now, at 77 years old, he has faced some health issues and had to take medication like never before.
My dad and I hold the family record for the most surgeries—we are the ones who have visited the operating room the most. I got my split chin and fair skin from him—I am his palest daughter. He has also been the one to spoil me the most. I remember once when my mom told him to punish me for something I did. He came into the room with a belt, started hitting the mattress instead, and gave me a look like 😳. Then he said, "Cry, so your mom thinks I’m punishing you," haha! (Mom, don’t read this.)
Without a doubt, my dad is the best—the absolute best. For his birthday, some of his children and grandchildren gathered, though not everyone could be there. We had a great time. At the end of the day, Amelie was really sleepy, but Grandpa (her "Tata," as she calls him) played videos for her to keep her entertained.
