Actividades Extracurriculares
Aunque nuestras rutinas diarias (casa, escuela, trabajo) son difíciles, la idea de añadir otra actividad a menudo nos hace dudar. Pero si esa actividad fortalecerá el crecimiento emocional y social de nuestros hijos, probablemente no lo pensemos dos veces.
Even though our daily routines (home, school, work) are difficult, the idea of adding another activity often makes us hesitate. But if that activity will strengthen our children's emotional and social growth, we probably won't think twice.
Como padres siempre estamos reinventándonos para que nuestros hijos tengan un buen día, una buena educación y por supuesto un mejor futuro, es por eso que la decisión de colocarlos en una actividad extraescolar, aunque muchas veces sea un tiempo extra dedicado a ellos, siempre valdrá la pena ya que los resultados serán positivos.
As parents, we are always reinventing ourselves so that our children have a good day, a good education, and of course, a better future. That's why the decision to place them in an extracurricular activity, although it often means spending extra time with them, will always be worth it, as the results will be positive.
Existen muchas opciones de actividades extracurriculares en las que podemos inscribir a nuestros hijos. Lo más importante es que sea una actividad que les interese. Por supuesto, como padres, podemos ayudarlos y animarlos a participar en una actividad que les brinde experiencias enriquecedoras y apropiadas para su edad.
There are many extracurricular activity options we can enroll our children in. The most important thing is that it's an activity they're interested in. Of course, as parents, we can help and encourage them to participate in an activity that provides enriching and age-appropriate experiences.
Es importante saber y tener en cuenta que no podemos obligarlos a hacer algo que simplemente nos gusta; se trata de lograr que participen en algo con lo que se sientan cómodos. A veces, los niños participan en una actividad solo porque a sus padres les gusta, y al final, el niño no se identifica con ella y, en lugar de aportar valor, solo les quita tiempo y esfuerzo.
It's important to know and keep in mind that we can't force them to do something we simply enjoy; it's about getting them to participate in something they feel comfortable with. Sometimes, children participate in an activity just because their parents like it, and in the end, the child doesn't identify with it, and instead of adding value, it only wastes their time and effort.
Los niños siempre tienen una actividad o deporte que les llama la atención, y como padres, siempre sabemos cómo identificarlo. Los apoyamos y les damos prioridad, teniendo en cuenta que no solo se beneficiarán ellos, sino que también seremos los principales beneficiarios de que nuestros hijos practiquen lo que les apasiona.
Children always have an activity or sport that catches their attention, and as parents, we always know how to identify it. We support them and prioritize them, keeping in mind that not only will they benefit, but we will also be the main beneficiaries of our children practicing what they love.
Por mencionar sólo algunas actividades extracurriculares, podemos identificar el deporte, la música, el arte y la danza como algunas de las principales que enseñan a nuestros hijos disciplina, respeto, compromiso y suman felicidad.
To mention just a few extracurricular activities, we can identify sports, music, art, and dance as some of the main ones that teach our children discipline, respect, commitment, and contribute to happiness.
Un aspecto que debemos tener en cuenta es que incluir a nuestros hijos en actividades extracurriculares requiere una buena planificación; es fundamental elegir un horario y día en que estemos disponibles para dejarlos y buscarlos cuando participen de la actividad.
One aspect we must keep in mind is that including our children in extracurricular activities requires good planning; it is essential to choose a time and day when we are available to drop them off and pick them up when they participate in the activity.
Dar ejemplo empieza en casa, y si queremos que nuestros hijos sean responsables, debemos enseñarles lo que significa la responsabilidad con el ejemplo. Por eso enfatizo la importancia de la planificación. No será justo ni correcto aceptar el compromiso de inscribirlos en una actividad extracurricular donde ocasionalmente falten a clase, lleguen tarde o abandonen a mitad de curso. Entendemos que puede haber momentos en los que realmente no puedan asistir, y es comprensible, pero no debería convertirse en un hábito.
Setting an example starts at home, and if we want our children to be responsible, we must teach them what responsibility means by example. That's why I emphasize the importance of planning. It won't be fair or right to accept the commitment of signing them up for an extracurricular activity where they occasionally miss class, arrive late, or drop out mid-year. We understand that there may be times when they truly can't attend, and that's understandable, but it shouldn't become a habit.
