Sonic 3 and Kid's Cinema
Over the weekend, I took the kids to the Kids Sunshine Cinema to catch the newly realeased Sonic 3. As a family, we've always enjoyed Sonic's high energy adventures. Although I loved the games growing up, the kids find them boring to today's standards.
But they have really loved the films and this instalment did not disappoint! Packed with thrilling chases, clever humour (Jim Carrey is an absolute legend) and heartfelt moments. The movie kept us hooked from start to finish. But how did Dr Robotnik survive after falling to his death and the end of the second Sonic?
From the opening scene the film lept off to a great start and Sonic's charismatic charm remained central to the film. The addition of new characters brought a fresh perspective and I really can't remember Shadow, perhaps Sega Saturn was out by then and I had stopped playing but the kids absolutely loved. The story's pacing was perfect keeping even the youngest audience members engaged while delivering just enough nostalgia for the adults in the crowd.
One of the best parts of the experience was the cinema's fun intermission where the kids were encouraged to get up, play and dance in front of the screen. Seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter as they busted out their favourite moves to upbeat music and the films soundtrack was fun. It was a great way to let them burn off some energy before diving back into the movie's action packed second half and gave me time for a quick toilet break.
Overall, Sonic 3 was an exciting and enjoyable movie that balanced action, humour and heart effortlessly. Together with the cinema’s thoughtful intermission and lively vibe, it made for a memorable outing. If you're looking for a family friendly film experience that entertains both kids and adults, this is a must see!
Here's a tip, Sonic's adventures aren't over yet and another new character is introduced.
We left with the kids talking about their favourite scenes and, of course, re-enacting Sonic’s speedy moves. Although my son is super keen on being knuckles as you can see from his pose.
This was definitely a day to remember!
