Hello Hivers,

Hope you all are having a good start of 2022.

I am very proud to be a member of this community, share my knowledge, experience and learn from the community.

This post is dedicated to pregnant women. I wanted to share a story of my 1st pregnancy, share tips and valuable advice. Encourage those women who are in their late 30s or even 40s, you still have time and capable to produce. I had a natural birth and my pregnancy was symptomless till the 3rd trimester. It is achievable with the right state of mind.

I fell pregnant for the 1st time aged 40. I’ve been one of the lucky women who have not had any pregnancy symptoms until later pregnancy. In fact, I didn’t even know I was pregnant until I was 4 months pregnant. Around 3rd month I started to panic because my period has gone. It has never happened before as I always had my period on time. So many thoughts crossed my mind: disease, cancer, hormone misbalance, stress. I phoned my doctor and asked her to check me. She said: go and buy a pregnancy test, then we talk.

I bought the most expensive electronic pregnancy test from the local pharmacy but the test showed a negative result. I called my GP/doctor and she sent me to the hospital for a blood test. On the next day, my doctor called me saying my HCG count is very high meaning I am possibly pregnant. She suggested to do an ultrasound scan to confirm the pregnancy.

3 days later, we attended an ultrasound test at the local hospital which confirmed the pregnancy. We saw the baby moving on the monitor and we just could not believe our eyes.

We were shocked but happy at the same time.

My 2nd terms was also symptomless. All I felt my belly was growing and some baby movements from around 20th week.

My 3rd term was a real test. I felt heavy, awkward to seat and walk, I could eat much and my sleeping pattern changed, I wanted to sleep longer hours.

Despite these challenges, I carried on the healthy lifestyle, I practiced pregnancy yoga daily, I stopped caffeine intake, I ate a lot of fruits and vegetables. I walked a lot and listened relaxing music throughout the day.

I was reading a lot about its pregnancy, so I am well prepared for the delivery and everything else that it comes with. I wanted a healthy baby and I was ready to sacrifice just about anything to achieve it.

I finally gave a birth to a baby girl on the 40th week. I could not believe I now have a child of my own. It was surreal. I cried when I held my daughter in my arms for the 1st time.

My advice to all wanna be Mums and pregnant women, your pregnancy is and will be different from mine but one thing we have in common: we want the best for our child. To achieve it, just imagine you are a foetus inside your mother’s womb, what would you like her to do for you?

It’s incredibly important to take care of your baby, even before he or she is born. Therefore, it is vital you to maintain a healthy pregnancy. Try eating frequent, small meals. Avoid foods that are greasy, spicy, or acidic. Don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol and don’t stress- this can lead to miscarriage. Exercise daily, do things you love and embrace positivity over everything else. Rewards are limitless.
