So it has been a very long 9 months journey, it wasn't a smooth one for my elder cousin but as at today we are home safe and sound with a very pretty 3.8kg baby.
so during this particular pregnancy, since I have been so so close to her, I have been able to observe a lot of things about pregnancy and it changes as well. I learnt that during every trimester starting from the first several changes occurs even with the food you take in as well to the last. Also the physical changes like the enlargement of the breast, stretch marks, linea nigra and the rest.
So the journey wasn't bumpy because because of the regular ante natal and during this period she was always on proper check up and both the baby and the mother were healthy.
As at 11:pm on Thursday night her first she contracted or was in labour and since it was already late and there were no vehicles in that environment we couldn't get her to the hospital. The contractions were not serious as at them but from 3am on friday it was fire and brimstone. By 4am on Friday we were able to transport her to the hospital but the matron was not available, she came in by 6 am.
The contractions came at intervals but it wasn't serious enough for a push.
So we kept on exercising on the stair for hours but the baby wasn't coming. We weren't booked for a ceserean section and she was dilating as well for a longer period. The doctor said it called the Latent phase, when the cervix starts to soften so that it can open.
I was curious to know everything single stage that she was going through during the labour and God so bless the matron is a family friend and she was able to answer most of my questions. Each time we go down the stairs or she has a contraction the cervix open but it wasn't enough, according to her the cervix needs to open about 10cm for the baby to pass through it. This is what's called being fully dilated.
she further explained that it was a first 1st labour situation and that the time from the start of established labour to being fully dilated is usually 8 to 12 hours and that It's often quicker (around 5 hours), in a 2nd or 3rd pregnancy.
she was in severe pains, weak and pale but the matron kept on giving her hot water mixed with glucose and also her water broke.
on Friday by 9:00 she was taken into the theatre and we were allowed to get a glimpse of her inside there before we were sent to the OPD.
Whatever happened inside there happened but by 9:40pm the baby was already crying, she was cleaned and brought to us (me and my aunty-the baby's grandma)
Our joy knew no bounds because another life had come forth from the family, and the first grandbaby of the house and to crown it all her beauty is smashing. We were discharged after 5days.
coming back home we did a little surprise for the baby and we danced and celebrated. later on in the night I sl pt with the baby because the baby didn't want to sleep with the mother neither her cot so she slept with me and i tried making sure that she wasn't whining and disturbing the whole house and the mother as well. The baby likes me and she smiles a lot when she is with me and she hears what I tell her and she loves listening to music, so I have gotten a new job and subsequently I will subsequently share my adventures with "baby smile"😁.
The most amazing adventure 😍 congratulations
Yes really, have you encountered it before trust me it really fun, educative and stressful as well. I was literally running up and down 😂 but the most interesting part of it was that I learnt a whole lot. I had always loved anything the gynae/obst way
Thanks for stopping by 🤗
She spent a long time in labor, I can imagine her anguish.
I had my girls, the first one was labor and the other two were cesarean sections.
The delivery was more painful at the time, but the c-section I spent many more days in pain.
You lived to the fullest the birth of your niece, good for her to stay with you peacefully, so she can rest a little more.
Thanks for sharing your experience @utymarvel
Yes she did
And to some point I felt her pains myself because just ordinary menstrual cramps could be so horrible then talk more of labour.
Hope your babies are doing sweet, mother is a lovely adventure and I have been so glad to gather a bank of information about babies.
Yeah I do take good care of the mother and the baby as well, most especially in the nights because she doesn't sleep at night meanwhile the mother needs to sleep.
Over here our culture says if a baby is born in the night that is it's morning time and the afternoon time will be like night to it just for a short period of time
So since she was born in the night she sleeps more during the day.
I am glad you stopped by, I really appreciate 🤗
It's good that you liked the experience and know more about what it's like for when yours come.
It is good that you are helping her with the care of the baby. Those first days are difficult because of the pain of childbirth and the sleepless nights.
Good thing it is only for a short period that she will be awake during the night.
I hope you continue to enjoy that beautiful angel you have at home @utymarvel.
Greetings and blessings.
Thanks I will extend my regards to the angel
