Behind The Photo - Proof of Toilet POT

in OCD5 years ago (edited)

Last week I shared an aquarium toilet with everyone. And just to be clear, this is an aquarium themed toilet, not a toilet inside an aquarium where everyone can see you pee!!! I mentioned that the toilet is located inside a department store and they have lots of different themed toilets inside. My aim is to do a post about all these toilets one day.

Today I went to the department store. It was supposed to be a quick visit as I had some other errands to run afterwards. Just as I was about to leave, I walked passed the Coke toilet. This is probably the most 'popular' toilet out of them all. Although I was in a rush, I couldn't resist the temptation to take some photos to share with everyone. I quickly whipped out my mobile phone to snap some shots.

THE ENTRANCE

The first image below was taken a few steps away from the main shopping area. You really can't miss this when you walk past. The red and white is so iconic that it's instantly recognisable in every country. Actually, if you didn't know, you might not realise this is a toilet. There are some Coke posters on the left and in front, and (I assume) Coca Cola written in different languages.

On the right hand side are some massive Coke cans.

GENTS

I want to be clear, I didn't 'go' into the gents to take these photos!! There are no doors to the gents and ladies. I was standing outside the gents, because you can see the gents sign at the top. These massive Coke cans are actually the cubicles. The two on the outside have doors but the one on the inside doesn't. This image is a bit blurry as I had to take it real fast. I was worried that someone would walk in anytime, that would be soooo awkward!

These are the wash basins opposite the gents cubicles. I think there's another cubicle next to it, but I didn't to in to check it out... One thing I found quite odd with the wash basin is why do you have four cubicles, two wash basins and three mirrors? Talk of vanity, it's not just us girls!!!

LADIES

Let's take a look at the ladies. Again there's no door. I had to double check the signs carefully because both the ladies and gents setup is the same. Again this photo is a bit blurry as it was one of the first one I took.

After I paused for a while and felt a bit comfortable that no one was coming in, I took a better photo. Again, there's two wash basins and three mirrors. That I can understand in the ladies.

And here's the view from the inside of the ladies. There are a lot of posters on the wall, and the reflection in the two left mirrors are from the posters outside. Do you notice the symbol reflected in the mirror on the right? Any idea what it is? I'm going to give you a few minutes to think and will let you know at the end of the post.

I quite like this photo of the ladies. You can clearly see three of the Coke can cubicles on the right, and the door of the fourth on the right. The attention to details on the Coke cans are quite good, they even have the bubbles on it. Luckily the department store wasn't very busy and no one came in so I was a bit more relaxed about taking my time to take the photos.

Here's the final photo I want to show you. In case you're not convinced this is a real toilet, this is the POT - Proof of Toilet ^_^

And finally, back to the symbol earlier on. Taiwan still has a lot of squat toilets and that sign is for a squat toilet which is still preferred by many. I'm not sure if you've seen a squat toilet before, it's basically a hole in the ground with a ceramic shield at the front for the flush. That's why the symbol looks like a flag lying down. If you study the penultimate photo carefully, you'll see that all three cubicles on the right hand side have this symbol. I had considered taking a photo of the squat toilet, but I figured one POT would be enough for a post.

Since I've been blogging, I always take random photos on my mobile as you never know when an image may come in handy. Today's photo session was an impromptu one, I hadn't planned on coming to the department store. Since I had posted about the aquarium toilet last week, and since I happened to be here again today, and since no one was around in the toilets, I thought it was a great opportunity to do a bit of continuation. Hope you like the Coke toilets!
