Fungi Friday - On a Golf Course?

Fungi Friday 6.jpg

It’s been a long time since my last post for #FungiFriday was written. Ok, maybe not so long time...as we talk about 28 days. I remember well, that just about a few months ago I was thinking that I would never find mushrooms in the Mediterranean region. But it turns out I can still find them here and there, not just the canned ones in the store. And, even in different places! I already saw them in the mountains, then in one pine forest, in an orchard and close to the small river where we usually walk. And now, here there are again. Would you imagine where I have found them? On one stump on a golf course.

On that golf course, there are more ducks than golf players. I captured a few ones, they walked elegantly in the middle of the field.

Since we live near this terrain, one day passing by, we saw a stump over the fence and a mushroom on it. It's a closed space, I couldn't just go inside, but the next day I went and asked the person in charge if I could go in even though I wasn't going to play golf. I explained to him that I had seen a mushroom I wanted to take some photos of. Luckily, he didn't mind and I was able to get close to this beauty.

The fungi had a pretty interesting shape. The upper surface looked like a decorated thick blanket. The shape on one side was closed with its elegantly shaped hats. An old, elegant lady...

On the other side of this unusual mushroom, the hats were twisting upwards and I could see the gills. The disjointed structure of the hats could be observed and the gills, which were brown, thin and dense.

Also, I wanted to see what the stems were like because we can't see them well from above. The whole mushroom was like a cover for that stump, just that one part with the twisted hats allowed to see a bit of the stems. Since the camera couldn’t fit under the mushroom, to take pictures, I put my cell phone underneath. The result is this. We can see a few stems and even one small extra mushroom.

This episode with a mushroom on the golf course is not the only one that will appear in this post. A few weeks ago, while we were walking in a nearby coniferous forest, I came across some huge mushrooms. I rarely see mushrooms in that forest, so I was pleasantly surprised with the finding. Some looked like a balloon.

Unfortunately, that balloon shaped one was cut off or torn off. It was lying there with its stalk, but if someone cut it off to take it, why did they leave it there? Maybe it's not edible? I just took a picture of it, I didn't take it home to try it either.

Also, some smaller mushrooms proved to be among the dry needles of conifers, they were small and insignificant. But still, fungi.

And the most beautiful find of the day, in that place was this mushroom. Like a nice hat, white, a little twisted up. The gills were white too but a little bit damaged.

The location of these mushrooms was a coniferous forest, as I have already mentioned. And I didn't just find mushrooms, this picture proves it. I saw a couple leading their horses there, even one goat was with them and one dog.

And we have a third location for today’s post. Who would have thought I couldn’t find mushrooms... Ah, that was me. Now happy that I did wipe out those misconceptions of mine, the mushrooms we saw on our walk around the lake a few days ago are coming. More precisely, it was on Sunday, when we spent an unplanned day in the mountains. It was a beautiful day and we could enjoy some hours of these kinds of view.

But close-ups of some beauties were like this. Small mushrooms, medium size then, in groups or alone, we saw all kinds.
Some would be interesting with googly-eyes, but I didn’t have them with me.

A lovely couple, how cute they are:

Those were so small, the bigger one was like my fingertip, and the smaller one was pea-sized.

As there were too many fungi and photos, I grouped some photos into one. Hope they can be seen, even in this format.

Finally, growth on this tree. Is this a mushroom at all? I'm not sure, but it was interesting. Happy #FungiFriday everyone, the nicest Friday event. Everyone can take part if has some fungi to show. Here are the guidelines, the event hosted by @ewkaw

1.When Friday comes post your own, original photo/drawing/art/food/anything-at-all of any type of fungi
2.Add #FungiFriday tag (it doesn't have to be your first tag)

Hopefully I will find some in the future too, I always think no way to see any of them, and then miracle happens :)

So many!!
I don't know why, but I really like when mushroom hat flips, and shows all those delicate gills. Like on that white one :) And the first browns ones... pretty frilly gills.

Ohhh and the ducks! :D

#filip

Ahahahha, poor #Filip can not enjoy this post now.

That white one was my favourite too, although I liked the balloon shaped one too :)

Wow what a variety. The white ones with the upturned cap kind of remind me of a lactarius.

I suppose I was lucky to find so many different fungi in the last few weeks. So the white one is the winner of the post :))

The first few are too hard to identify since they dried up. They look giant though.

I went two days ago the check the golf course fungi and it was completely black :( nothing left from it...

You never cease to amaze me you have a Alien mushroom and all my favorite colors nothing to complain about here a perfect post 😊

Hey, thank you @kohsamui99. You saw the lake? Fantastic view from there, right?

No doubt that view is awesome and how blue is the water, you found the right spot most definitely 👍
