There is a tree stump in the front yard of my house which fungus grow out from every time. It's a mango tree that was cut down a long time ago.
After the last harvest which was about 7 days ago I have been checking every morning for new mushroom offshoots. My mom loves to eat them.
I can remember very well that a day ago there was no sign of new offshoot on the tree stump.
Amazingly, today in the morning while I was out to tidy up the front yard, viola, a stack of full-blown mushrooms was already there on the stump. I was so surprised to see those beauties stuck on the dead tree stump. Harvest was ripe! ☺ Where did y'all appear from, I asked breathtakingly 😁
The umbrella shape gives this plant a beautiful look and also in a very short period of its lifetime serves as a shelter for little ants.
This particular mushroom is edible and is said to have much nutritional values.
My mother does not let them live their full life. She harvests as soon as she sights them. If they look too small and young, she plans their harvest the next day, and if they eventually escape her eyes, then get to enjoy the earth for a few more days. 😁
When I found these ones today, I refused to inform my mom about them. 😔 She wont wait the next minute but go cut them and cook them.
I just like how they cluster in a place, bloom and still look beautiful. Though I love eating it when it is cooked, I always hesitate to harvest it. I always feel they have the right to live their life to the fullest; after all they only have but few days to stay on earth before they wither away and die.
You will be amazed by how fast mushrooms can shootout, grow and in a blink they wither away. I normally harvest it the second or third day of germination. But I really only do the harvesting because of my mom.
I love mushrooms and I hope to start a large mushroom farm someday.
