Here are the scraps I've found this week for #mushroommonday
Here is a strange gall on the side of an oak leaf. It might be a wasp gall, not really a fungi at all but interesting still.
Here is a sad looking lactarius of some kind.
I flipped it over to look at the gills.
There were all sorts of gnats and beetles underneath. A fairly rotten mushroom.
I found a strange looking polypore with all sorts of red tiny bugs all over it.
Here is another smashed looking group of mushrooms.
I tore a little bit off of it to check the gills. I still have no idea what they might be...
Now for some mycena looking mushrooms growing out of some really dead wood.
Finally the best one, a Aureoboletus russellii aka Russell's bolete (thanks for the id @tych021 ). I thought it was too old looking to harvest but apparently this is normally how they look and they are listed as a good edible.
Hopefully it will start raining here again so I can get something edible to harvest.
Wow! That is quite a variety of fungi you found just tooling around. Biodiversity is all around if we stop and look hard enough.
Yeah I'm always on the lookout for mushrooms, hopefully it rains again soon...
Very nice and attractive mashroom.I like your photography.✌️
Thanks :-)
The last mushroom has a fabulous stem)
@tych021 found some nice fresh specimens of these guys last week.
Yes, I looked)
Looks to me like the last one may actually be Russell's Bolete (Aureoboletus russellii) rather than Frost's Bolete (Exsudoporus frostii). Both have intricately reticulated stems, but the pale brown cap is more characteristic of Russell's Bolete. Frost's Boletes tend to have much more pronounced reds and yellows. Great find nonetheless!
Looks like you are right. The stem seemed way to long and the cap to large for other frostii's I've seen in the past. Also the red color is not on the cap, I figured it might have just lost it with age. Now I wish I had havested it, its listed as a good edible.
You always show the best pictures..
Thanks, hopefully it will rain alot soon so more mushrooms will come out again.
Yes.
That's a very good idea.
Because when it rains, we can find lots of mushrooms.
At my place, it's not raining at the moment... so it's hard to find mushrooms. looks like the mushroom meat is very soft to eat.
Yeah the rain has subsided here too I am only finding older mushrooms now.
