Here are a few fungi sightings for this #mushroommonday

Here is a brand new find. I've never seen this before. Sure it may look like a typical orange brittlegill but as I picked one it had strange features.

This is Cortinarius mucosu its hard to tell from the photo but this thing is covered in a thick slime that grabbed a bunch of dirt as I uprooted it.

The common name is orange webcap, eventually it will bloom out in to a large cap and the stem will become rough looking. Sadly this one is not recommended to eat, partially for the slime and also for it looking like many poisonous species of cortinarius.

Here is a super deadly mushroom called the deadly galerina. It was growing right next to the orange webcaps. This one is the deadly lookalike to winter mushrooms.

The key to identification of winter mushrooms vs. deadly galerinas is the winter mushrooms are brighter orange, slimy and they have a dark tough velvet foot at the base of the stem. Deadly galerinas have no slime and no velvety foot. They also have rusty spores compared to white spores of winter mushrooms.

My daughter grabbed a broken branch since she loves collecting walking sticks on our walks. I noticed it had some amber jelly roll on it.

I picked a bit chunk off of it and gave it to her. She liked squishing it around. These are an edible mushroom that goes well in spicy soup. They are a good substitute for wood ear, or if you like menudo they work as a great substitute for beef tripe.

The last batch of mushrooms I found were some aging mycenas. As a bonus there are some skinny lichens peaking out on the left too.

That's all for now, hopefully I can still find more mushrooms before the year ends.

A cool new find! Nice that fresh ones are still popping up ☘️

I should have tried getting shots of the thick slime somehow. This guy also grows in your area.

Nice finds. Good to see you had a successful week of findings for #mushroommonday 👍 especially since I have been so hard on your struggles 🤦 sorry bro

All I have left to find are winter mushrooms now. Maybe as a Christmas present I'll get a grow kit.

Just stumbled upon this nice video about growing Oysters; sharing!
