Happy #mushroommonday π I had a great #mushroommonday. Got in some foraging this afternoon. I also found some foraging photos from last week in my photo folder. The chanterelles above are from last week.
Black trumpet also know as black chanterelles. I think this is my favorite mushroom I forage. Photo is also from last week.
I found some nice large black trumpets
Here's an even bigger black trumpet π
These have very firm flesh reminding you of shrimp plus the shape.I also found some Shrimp of the Woods (Aborted Entolotma). Aborted entolomas are produced through a reaction of an entoloma species with honey mushrooms when growing in the same vicinity - https://foragerchef.com/entoloma-abortivum-aborted-entoloma-mushroom/
Today I found chanterelles, black trumpet, shrimp of the woods...
plus a little chicken of the woods, hen of the woods and a nice bolette.
Here are the mushrooms from last week - more of the chanterelles, black trumpets, and shrimp of the woods. Plus some lions mane and white coral.
Happy Monday everyone. Hope you are having a good start to the week π
That's quite a nice selection of edibles. The lion's mane almost looks like Bear's Head Tooth Hericium americanum as it isn't quite like a round pom pom shape like lion's mane. They both taste the same just have a different shape.
Thanks. I think you are right on the Bear's Head π
I'm fascinated to see those mushrooms, especially, the Chatenrelles and Shrimp of the Woods. Never seen one around my place since there are only a few mushroom species popping up. All of these are edible, right? !PIZZA
Yes all of these are edible. We have lots of mushrooms in Vermont. At least until it freezes π

What a successful mushroom hunt! I'm quite envious!
Thanks. We are eating mushrooms every meal right now lol. Although we started freezing some yesterday.
As someone who know nothing about gardening, harvesting, or related shit (I wonβt survive in the forest for sure), watching you guys harvest fungi is just amazing. Like you know what edible and whatβs not edible and thatβs some next level shit to me. :D Even that black trumpet looks intimidating but probably tastes good :D
Black trumpets are delicious but they do look kind of sinister lol My approach is to learn a few edible ones that are easy to identify and focus on those. If I don't recognize it, I leave it alone.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Have a great Tuesday! Those were nice finds @steven-patrick ππ
Thanks littlebee. Hope you are having a good week.
Have a great day further. You are welcome @steven-patrick π so far it is going well. Still adjusting to the time.
Great finds and big trumpets woah! I was up in Vermont this weekend and found some cool stuff, not many edibles though...Apparently Jelly Toothed fungus is edible but I'll pass lol.
Thanks. Cool you made it up here. I stick to the stuff that tastes good on its own. Too much prep or not much flavor, I pass. Agreed π
Some of the mushrooms that are distributed are edible, do you always get those delicious mushroom snacks after you bring them home?
We are eating them as fast as we can π Some get sauteed and put in the freezer. We might dehydrate some also.
it looks very delicious, do we have problems when we eat it like itching or something?
Not these. I'm very careful about which ones I eat. These are all safe.
ah I'm a little surprised, relieved if the mushrooms you eat don't have anything dangerous? always healthy for you there.
Did you fry them up? yum.
No one would believe the name.. crazy
We haven't fried them but they are supposed to be good that way. And the firm flesh would hold up well. Yeah mushrooms have silly names. Thats half the fun π
Wow! You certainly know your shrooms π
That's an impressive variety. Did you eat any and how?
Thanks π I usually saute and then add them to dishes. Omelettes, pasta sauces, pizzas...those are my favorite ways to eat them. They also freeze well once they are sauteed.
That, my fellow fun guy... is very fuckin' cool π
They're expensive out here. Mushrooms. I hardly ever eat them anymore...
you could probably package some of those and sell them as exotics you know. I heard of someone out here who only "farmed" shitaki mushrooms or something and did pretty well because it's a niche market.
It looks like you have a pretty good area for growing!
