Does perfectionism delay progress? Let's find out.

Many times we are always faced withe with options such that we don't know which one to go for.

You will face this issue a lot especially if you're a perfectionist like me. Sometimes I found out what others could have decided on within minutes or hours, I stay on it for days. I don't see it as a weakness though but it affects me in a way.

What do I mean?

Let me give a practical example.

Let's say I have a business idea in mind, I can stay in the planning stage trying to get things 100% right even before the business starts, I would readjust and keep readjusting until I perceive that I have a perfect business. More often, they end up on paper.

This should let you know that it's not really about perfecting on paper but taking the first step of actualizing it. I once sought the opinion of a friend about a domain name for a blog I had in mind. I gave her 3 options to help me choose from, I didn't use the one she suggested, and neither did I choose any of the three also because some days after, I felt the names were not perfect enough.

So I came up with another name, registered the domain name last year in November, and guess what? I'm dumping the name again. I know it sounds somehow to you, and it does to me also and I've just come to understand something: It's not really about how perfect the idea is but it's what we can do with it that matters, my friend also said something similar.

This is why you see people not contented with what they have like spouse, material possessions, etc, and would always crave something better. Yes, I understand the place of seeking better things for ourselves but we should not mistake it for indecisiveness and lack of contentment. I heard this from someone I respect that "a rolling stone does not gather moist", I believe so.

I have made up my mind this year to stick to one idea at a time for the whole of 2023. Regardless of what idea comes to my mind later, I won't change it.
What about you, have you ever had issues with decision-making?
