It's the weekend💯
The first Weekend in December😊
How did you feel about it?
How does it feel to know that we are nearing the end of the year?
Soo it's day 3 and we are on to chapter 3😉
Chapter 3: APPLY THE 80/20 RULE TO EVERYTHING.
We always have time enough, if we will but use it aright.
The 80/20 rule is a very helpful concept in time and life management. This principle was founded by an Italian Economist Vilfredo Pareto.
This concept was founded when Pareto discovered that people in his society seemed to naturally divided into the vital few and the trivial many
The vital few consists of the top 20% in terms of money and influence and trivial many were the bottom 80%.
He later discovered that virtually every economic activities worked with this principles and that it also worked that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of your results and this is also reflected in life management because 20% of your tasks will account for 80% of the value of what you do
Simply put this means that if you have a list of ten items to do, two of those items will turn out to be worth five or ten times or more than the other 8 items put together
NUMBER OF TASKS VERSUS IMPORTANCE OF TASKS.
Each of the ten tasks may take the same amount of time to accomplish but just one or two of these tasks will contribute five or ten times the value of any or the others.
One item on a list of ten tasks that you have to do can be worth more than all the other nine items put together
This task is no doubt the Frog that you should eat first.
The sad fact is that most people procrastinate on the vital few that adds more value and they choose to settle with the trivial many that adds very little value.
FOCUS ON ACTIVITIES, NOT ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
So now I know you don't get too surprise when you see people who appear to be busy all day long but achieve little or when you yourself have not gotten any rest for yourself yet the results are bleak. The sole cause of this is because they are busy working on tasks that are of low value while they are procrastinating on the one or two activities that will make a real difference.
Ir lt is true that your most valuable tasks are often the hardest and most complex but the payoff for completing these tasks can be tremendously satisfying. So now before you move on to your tasks, ask yourself "Is this task in the top 20% of my activity or in the bottom 80%?"
Rule: Resist the temptation to clear up small things first.
You must always remember that whatever you choose to do over and over eventually becomes a habit that is hard to break.
It's true that the hardest part of any important task is getting started on it in the first place and after you actually begin work on a valuable task a part of your mind loves to be busy working on important tasks.
MOTIVATE YOURSELF.
Just thinking about starting and finishing an important task motivates you and helps you to overcome procrastination.
Give yourself a reason to want to do it, Look at the bigger picture and keep on working.
Most times the amount of time required to complete an important job is the same as the time required to do an unimportant but the difference is the feeling of pride and satisfaction from the completion of something valuable and significant but when you finish an unimportant task you get little or no satisfaction at all.
Time management is very important as it is having control over what to do next.
Time management is life management and personal management.
However your ability to choose between the important and unimportant is the key determinant to your success in life.
